(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State Volleyball Team faced off against the Mount Mercy Mustangs on Friday night and coming up short, 0-3. The Bobcats are now 5-12 overall and 1-4 in the Heart of America Conference.
The Bobcats started out the first set strong taking an early lead. The Bobcats struggled to stop the Mustangs momentum as they close the gap. Raevyn Russel had three kills with
Eden Moore, Addison Schnider and
Kalolaine Pasikala each had two kills in the set, but the Mustangs won the set 26-24.
In the second set, the Bobcats came out swinging with their first four points being kills. The teams went back and forth throughout the set until the Mustangs found a way and took the lead. Despite three kills from
Eden Moore, two kills each from Raevyn Russel,
Kalyssa Fox and Addison Schnider along with
Emily Sherman and
Kalolaine Pasikala having two service aces each in the set, Mount Mercy took the second set, 25-22. The Bobcats battled hard but struggled to maintain their momentum in the third set as the Mustangs took a big lead. The Bobcats fought to close the gap, but their efforts weren't enough as the Mustangs took set three, 25-12.
Raevyn Russel led the Bobcats with seven kills and 10 digs.
Eden Moore had six kills, 3 digs and a solo block with Addison Schnider also having six kills and adding three blocks.
Kalyssa Fox had four kills with one block against the Mustangs.
Kalolaine Pasikala had three kills, 13 digs and three service aces in the matchup.
Allie Schnider had 14 assists and 10 digs against the Mustangs.
Samantha Chesley had nine assists with three digs.
Emily Sherman had 13 digs and two aces with
Ryan White adding three digs for the Bobcats.
The Bobcats will return home on Saturday, September 29 to take on the Clarke University Pride. Varsity Reserve will start at 12:00pm with Varsity following at 2:00pm.
