(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State Baseball team took on the Grand View Vikings on Saturday and Sunday. The Bobcats went 2-2 in the series.
 
Day 1- April 13
 
Game 1- Peru State 13 – Grand View 12
 
Gustavo Rivera scored the first run of the game for the Bobcats after a hit by Angel Andrades. Randy Jimenez followed with a double that scored Efrin Torres, Doel Pina and Garrett Pavletich. Randy Jimenez then scored on a fielder's choice. In the Second inning, the Vikings were able to tie the game up at 5-5. Gustavo Rivera hit a homerun in the second inning to take the lead back, followed by a homerun by Garrett Pavletich to also score Antonio Benitez. In the third inning, Gustavo Rivera hit a sacrifice fly that scored Will Reynolds. The Vikings were able to take the lead back in the sixth inning 12-9.
 
In the sixth inning, Angel Andrades hit a sacrifice fly to score Gustavo Rivera. Wesley Bradford then doubled to center field to score Garrett Pavletich. Efrin Torres singled which was followed by an error to score Wesley Bradford. With a tied game at 12-12, Randy Jimenez hit a single down the rightfield line that allowed Ivan Medina to score the winning run for the Bobcats.
 
Dylan Pavletich pitched four innings for the Bobcats, only allowing 10 hits and nine runs and also having two strikeouts. Blake Denson pitched two innings and was charged with five hits and three runs with one strikeout. Garrett Pavletich pitched one inning and only allowed one hit and had three strikeouts.
 
Game 2- Peru State 12 - Grand View 13
 
Antonio Benitez hit a two-run homerun in the first inning to start off game two for the Bobcats. In the fourth inning, Wesley Bradford hit a homerun. Antonio Benitez singled to left field to score Jacob Aberg followed by a sacrifice fly by Angel Andrades to score Will Reynolds. In the sixth inning, Jocob Aberg hit a sacrifice fly to score Doel Pina and advanced Randy Jimenez who then scored on a wild pitch. In the final inning, Efrin Torres singled to center field scoring Billy Starr followed by Randy Jimenez hitting a single to left field to score Wesley Bradford. The Bobcats final hit of game 2 was a three-run homerun by Gustavo Rivera.  
 
Kevin Diaz pitched 4.1 innings and was charged with nine hits and nine runs but had four Viking strikeouts. Brenton Pitt pitched 1.2 innings and was charged with two hits and three runs. Tobin Wingender pitched 1 inning, only giving up one hit and one run.
 
Day 2- April 14
 
Game 3- Peru State 7 - Grand View 3
 
The Bobcats started out day 2 with a Viking error scoring Antonio Benitez for the first run of the game. In the second inning, Antonio Benitez singled to score Will Reynolds. Wesley Bradford singled to right field to score Antonio Benitez and Gustavo Rivera. In the third inning, Gustavo Rivera singled to left field to score Xavier Solla. Efrin Torres singled to center field to score Wesley Bradford and Angel Andrades in the fourth inning.
 
Casey Ogden Pitched six innings only allowing seven its and three runs with three strikeouts. Garrett Pavletich only allowed one hit against the Vikings.
 
Game 4- Peru State 3 - Grand View 6
 
The Bobcats scored their first runs in the seventh inning with a singled to left field followed by a Viking error to score Will Reynolds and Xavier Solla. Garret Pavletich hit a sacrifice fly to score Gustavo Rivera.
 
Diego Oquendo pitched 4.1 innings and was charged with seven hits and five runs also having three strikeouts. Tobin Wingender pitched one inning allowing gone hits and one run with two strikeouts. Hunter Abney pitched one inning, having two strikeouts.
 
The Bobcats will return home on Saturday, April 20 to take on the Missouri Valley Vikings. Games will start at 1 and 3pm.
