(Peru, Neb)- The Peru State Men's Basketball halted the Central Methodist Eagles on Saturday afternoon, 81-67. The Bobcats are now 9-10 in the Heart of America Conference and 13-10 Overall.
The Bobcats came out hot in the first half, taking a 9-4 lead. With big plays by Ajantae Hogan and David Wingett Jr., the Bobcats were able to take a 12-point lead over the Eagles. Carlos Hines had nine points and two rebounds in the first half for the Bobcats. Ajantae Hogan also had eight points and three rebounds in the first. A final jump shot from Carlos Hines finished out the half as the Bobcats had the lead 35-29.
Going into the second half, the Bobcats were unstoppable with back to back shots from Carlos Hines taking an 11-point lead. The Eagles tried to close the gap, getting the Bobcats lead down to only 3-points. Back to back layups by Carlos Hines and a 3-pointer by Sayvon Traylor extended the lead for the Bobcats once again. Hines 15 points followed by Traylor's 14 points helped the Bobcats halt the Eagles and keep their double-digit lead. The Bobcats pulled out the win 81-67.
Carlos Hines led the Bobcats with 24 points, five rebounds and two steals. Sayvon Traylor had 16 points for the Bobcats with three rebounds and two steals against the Eagles. David Wingett Jr. had 12 points and six rebounds with Ajantae Hogan having 12 points and three rebounds. Amir Poat had seven points and four rebounds with Skyler Wilson adding six points and two rebounds for the Bobcats.
Next: The Bobcats will travel to Marshall, Mo, to take on the Missouri Valley Vikings on Saturday, Feb 10th. Tipoff is set for 4:00 PM.
