Men’s Basketball Pulls Away in Road Win at Missouri Valley

(Peru, Neb)- The Peru State Men's Basketball team defeated the Missouri Valley Vikings on Saturday night in Marshall, MO, 91-71. The Bobcats are now 10-10 in the Heart of America Conference and 14-10 overall.
 
The Bobcats came out hot in the first half, taking a seven-point lead in the first five minutes. With the help of Sayvon Traylor's 14 points and seven rebounds, the Bobcats were able to extend their lead to nine points going into halftime. Carlos Hines also tallied 12 points for the Bobcats and added four assists and two steals. The Bobcats led 47-38 after the first half.
 
In the second half, the Bobcats continued to push their lead to 20 points in the first few minutes of the half. The Vikings couldn't find a way around the Bobcats offense. David Wingett Jr. had 15 points for the Bobcats in the second half with Amir Poat having eight rebounds. The Bobcats stopped the Vikings to take the win, 91-71.
 
Sayvon Traylor led the Bobcats statistically with 24 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Carlos Hines tallied 23 points with nine assists, three rebounds and two steals. David Wingett Jr. was close behind with 22 points, two rebounds and two steals. Amir Poat tallied 11 rebounds, 10 points and three blocks against the Vikings. Christian Tidiane followed with seven rebounds with five points and four blocks.
 
Next: The Bobcats will head to Lamoni, Iowa to take on the Graceland Yellowjackets on Wednesday, February 14th. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
