(Peru, Neb)- The Peru State Women's Basketball defeated the Central Methodist Eagles, 84-72, Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats are now 7-12 in the Heart of America Conference and 10-13 Overall. The Bobcats defeated the Eagles for the first time since the 2014-15 season.
The Bobcats started out the game strong with Olivia Williams scoring the first points of the game. The Bobcats went back and forth with the Eagles throughout the first quarter with the Bobcats ending the quarter up 18-15. Going into the second quarter, Kylie Diaz started the quarter with a jumper. Samantha Stewart and Olivia Williams both had eight points in the first half with Stewart having three rebounds. The Bobcats were down going into halftime, 32-36.
Olivia Williams opened up the second half with a jump shot. The Eagles were able to find a way around the Bobcats and take a 10-point lead. As the Bobcats fought back, a layup by Hailey Ingram took the lead back for the Bobcats. Throughout the fourth quarter, the Bobcats were able to take back their lead and exetend it with the help of Hailey Ingram's 13 points in the second half followed by Maddy Duncan's 12 points. The Bobcats were able to hold the Eagles back and win the game 84-72.
Maddy Duncan led the Bobcats to the win with 16 points and four rebounds. Kaylan Larry had 15 points with four rebounds and two steals for the Bobcats. Kylie Diaz had 13 points with six blocks and four rebounds with Hailey Ingram adding 13 points, two steals and one rebound. Olivia Williams tallied 10 points with four rebounds and Samantha Stewart had nine points with two steals and two rebounds. Natasha Deal also added eight points and four rebounds for the Bobcats.
