(Souix City, Iowa)- The Peru State Softball team played their first set of games at the Dordt University Tournament on February 16 and 17
th in Souix City, Iowa. The Bobcats went 0-4 on the weekend.

th.

Feb. 16 Game 1- Peru State 1 – Northwestern 9
The Bobcats struggled early to stop the Raiders, giving up five runs in the first three innings.

Kaelyn Hamblen,
Kylee Dieckmann and
Jami Mans each had a hit for the Bobcats. Mans had a single to right field that allowed
Kaelyn Hamblen to score.

Jessica Filkin started out pitching for the Bobcats and pitched for 3.1 innings. She allowed seven hits for only five runs and had one strikeout.
Emily Vannatta pitched for 3.2 innings, allowing six hits and only four runs, also having one strikeout.
Feb. 16 Game 2- Peru State 0 – Briar Cliff 8
A tough third inning with a couple fielding errors allowed the Mustangs to score six runs.
Kylee Dieckmann and
Harmony Franke each had a hit for the Bobcats throughout the matchup.

Emberlyn Medsker pitched four innings allowing eight hits and eight runs with one strikeout.

On Saturday, February 17th, the Bobcats played Dordt University and Dakota Wesleyan University

Feb. 17 Game 1- Peru State 5 – Dordt 7
The Bobcats struggled in the first few innings as the Defenders scored seven runs.
The Bobcats had a hot sixth inning, scoring their five runs.

Danielle Houlden followed by a wild pitch scoring
Autumn Dixon.
Leann Hawkins hit a triple to right center scoring Sipek with
Kaylee Harsh singling to score Hawkins.

Jessica Filkin pitched 4.2 innings, only allowing three hits and three runs with two strikeouts.

Feb. 17 Game 2- Peru State 7 – Dakota Wesleyan 15
The Bobcats had a slow and costly fifth inning, allowing the Tigers to score 10 runs.

Kaelyn Hamblen started off for the Bobcats hitting a home run to score along with
Danielle Houlden. In the second inning,
Kaylee Harsh reached first on an error that scored
Ellie Ohlde.
Kaylee Harsh then scored on an error by second. In the third,
Ellie Ohlde singled to score Autmn Dixon. In the fourth,
Autumn Dixon singled to score
Kylee Dieckmann followed by a error by the catcher to score Dixon.
