(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State Women's Basketball Team fell to the Doane Tigers on Wednesday night, 69-90. The Bobcats are now 2-1 overall.
The Bobcats got off to a rough start, as the Tigers took the lead in the first quarter, outscoring the Bobcats 24-9. At halftime, the Bobcats found themselves down 22-55. Despite the large deficit, there were some bright spots for the Bobcats.
Natasha Deal led the team at the break with six points, while
Kylie Diaz chipped in with five points and five rebounds, providing a glimmer of hope for a potential second-half comeback.
In the third quarter, the Bobcats showed some fight, with Diaz continuing her strong performance. She added eight more points and pulled down four rebounds, keeping the Bobcats within striking distance.
MaKinley Tobey also contributed offensively, scoring 11 points in the second half, but despite their efforts, the Tigers kept the pressure on and maintained their commanding lead.
Kylie Diaz led the Bobcats with 16 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks.
MaKinley Tobey had 15 points, with one rebound and one steal for the Bobcats.
Hailey Ingram had eight points with
Natasha Deal having seven points and two rebounds.
Tiara Dodd had six points, five rebounds and two steals with
Savannah Bingham adding six points and three rebounds against the Tigers
