Men’s Basketball Falls to Graceland at Home

Men's Basketball Falls to Graceland at Home 

(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State Men's Basketball team fell to the Graceland Yellowjackets on Wednesday, 61-52. The Bobcats are now 3-7 in the Heart of America Conference and 7-7 overall.  

The Bobcats started out the first half strong with a layup by Christian Tidiane (Jr., Council Bluffs, IA)  in the first 15 seconds of the game and the team took a quick lead of 11-6. Even with the efforts of Carlos Hines (Jr., Chicago, IL) and Sayvon Traylor (Sr., Atlanta, GA)  , the Yellowjackets were able close the gap and pull ahead. A final layup by Ty Griggs (Jr., Omaha, NE) finished out the first half as the Bobcats were only down 2 with a score of 20-24. 

Ty Griggs started the second half for the Bobcats with a layup followed by a 3-pointer by Sayvon Traylor. Carlos Hines and Ty Griggs had big second halves, having multiple back to back makes. Carlos Austin Jr., (Sr., Kansas City, MO) had the final shot of the game with a made 3-pointer as the Yellow jackets were able to take the win 61-52.  

Sayvon Traylor led the team against the Yellowjackets with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 2 steals. Carlos Hines also had 15 points and tallied three assists and two rebounds. Ty Griggs had 10 points and three assists for the Bobcats and David Wingett Jr. (Sr., Winnebago, NE) tallied 10 rebounds along with four points.  

Next: The Bobcats take on the William Penn Statesman on Saturday, January, 6th. Tipoff is set for 4:00 PM. Go Bobcats!
