Peru State Volleyball Falls to Benedictine Friday Night

(Peru, Neb.)--The Peru State volleyball team fell to the Benedictine Ravens in three sets on Friday night. The Bobcats are now 6-11 overall and 1-4 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play while the Ravens improve to 11-3 overall and 3-1 in Heart play.

Below is a breakdown of how the three set match went…

Benedictine got started early with a 9-3 run to start the first set. Peru State would get the score down to five trailing 12-7 after kills from Addison and Allie Schneider (Humphrey). The Ravens then went on a 7-2 run to take a 19-9 lead late in the set.

The Ravens would keep a big lead for much of the first set winning 25-14. Peru State was up early in the second set 11-7 after kills from the Schneider sisters. The Bobcats then were up 16-10 after kills from Addison Schneider and an ace from Allie Schneider.

Keiley Hein (Omaha) had an ace as the Bobcats led 18-11. The Ravens then went on a 7-3 run to cut the lead 20-18. The Bobcats would have a 23-21 lead after a kill from Hein. Benedictine then went on a 4-0 run to take a 25-23 set two win.

The Bobcats led early in the third set up 8-5 after a kill from Elli Williams (Olathe, Kan.). The Ravens then would get the set down to one point as they trailed 10-9. Kills from the Schneider sisters and an ace from Alyssa Bock (Plattsmouth). The Ravens then tied the game at 13 apiece.

The Ravens and then Bobcats would trade points most of the way in the middle of third set as it settled on a 17-17 tie after a kill from Kalyssa Fox (Casa Grande, Ariz.). Benedictine then went on a 4-0 run to take a 21-17 lead. 

Peru State cut the lead down to one 23-22 after a kill from Addison Schneider. Benedictine ended up winning the set 25-22 and won the match 3-0.

Addison Schneider led the way in kills with nine, Williams had six and Hein had five. Hein and Bock had two aces apiece. Addison Schneider had a team-high four blocks. Allie Schneider had 21 assists and Paniagua led the team with 17 digs.

Peru State has a quick turnaround as they will play No. 8 Park on the road Saturday. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
