(Peru, Neb.)—The Peru State volleyball team improved to 3-2 with a sweep over York University on Tuesday night. Below is a breakdown of how the game went.
In the first set the Bobcats were on top of the Panthers leading 9-3, with kills from
Keiley Hein (Omaha),
Elli Williams (Olathe, Kan.) Addison Schneider (Humphrey) and an ace
Chantal Paniagua (Santo Domingo, D.R.).
Peru State kept the pedal on the gas up 15-8 after two kills from Hein. The Bobcats had the first set well in hand up 20-12 after a kill from
Kalyssa Fox (Casa Grande, Ariz.). York scored the next three points.
Peru State was then up 24-15 after an ace from
Olivia Gordon (Oskaloosa, Iowa). The Panthers tried to claw their way back into the first set trailing 24-18 but a kill by Williams ended the first set.
The second set was much closer as York was leading 10-8 early. Peru State would then go on a 6-1 run to take a 14-11 lead after a kill from
Shealie Wiebers (Papillion). York would then battle back to take a 17-15 lead going on a 6-1 run of its own.
The Bobcats and Panthers would then trade points all the way up to 26-all a kill by Hein and an error from the Panthers gave Peru State the 28-26 set win.
Setter
Allie Schneider (Humphrey flexed her muscle in the beginning of the third set going on a 6-0 run to start. York would come back with four points of its own. Peru State held a 6-4 lead in the third.
The Bobcats and Panthers would then trade a few points back-and-forth before Peru State took control of the set. Peru State went on a 6-2 run later in the set leading 16-8 after a couple of errors from York.
Peru State was able to hold York to four points the rest of the third set. Kills by
Allie Schneider Khami Itzen (Lincoln) a few errors by the Panthers and an ace from Paniagua helped complete the sweep.

Hein led the team in kills with 11, Fox finished with seven and
Addison Schneider finished with five. Paniagua led the team in aces with four,
Allie Schneider and Gordon each finished with two.
Williams had two blocks on the night. Schneider led the team in assists with 35. Paniagua finished with 21 digs, Hein had 15 and
Sidney Peck (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada) had eight.
Peru State heads to the Ozarks for five matches in the College of the Ozarks Tournament starting Thursday, August 31, against tournament host College of the Ozarks. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
