(Peru, Neb.)—The Peru State women's basketball team fell to MidAmerica Nazarene 77-51 on Saturday afternoon in Olathe, Kan. The Bobcats are now 8-16 overall and 4-14 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play while the Pioneers are 17-6 overall and 14-4 in conference play.

It was another slow starting game for the Bobcats as they trailed 4-3 three minutes into the first quarter after
Maddy Duncan (Hamburg, Iowa) hit a three. The Pioneers would then go on a 15-4 run for the rest of the first quarter taking a 19-7 lead.
MidAmerica Nazarene extended its lead out to 16 early in the second quarter leading 27-11 with around six minutes left. Peru State then went on a 6-0 run to cut the lead down to ten trailing 27-17.
Contributing to the run were free throws by Duncan and a couple of baskets by
Hailey Ingram (Omaha). The Pioneers ended the half on a 10-2 run taking a 37-19 lead into the break.
MidAmerica Nazarene did not let its foot of the gas in the third quarter as they started the half on a 6-2 run to take a 24-point 45-21 lead.
Duncan halted the run with a three of her own, but the Pioneers would again produce a big run. MidAmerica Nazarene went on a 13-4 run to take 56-28 lead with two minutes left in the third quarter.
The Pioneers would head into the final quarter of play with a sizeable 26-point lead up 59-33.
Peru State opened the fourth quarter on an 11-3 run as they trailed 62-44, but the lead had already grown too much as Peru State would only score seven more points and be defeated 77-51 by the Pioneers.
Peru State shot 17-of-53 from the field shooting 32.1%, 6-of-16 from three shooting 37.5% and 11-of-16 from the charity stripe shooting 68.8%.
MidAmerica Nazarene shot 27-of-66 from the field shooting 40.9%, 10-of-26 from deep shooting 38.5% and 13-of-20 from the line shooting 65%.
MidAmerica Nazarene outscored Peru State 36-19 in the paint, 29-14 in points off turnovers and 28-26 off the bench.
Duncan led the team in points with 19, Ingram finished with 15 and
Kaylan Larry (Little Rock, Ark.) had seven.
Jescenia Mosley (Shenandoah, Iowa) and Ingram each had a team-high five rebounds. Ingram also finished with a team-high three assists.
Peru State returns home this Wednesday, February 8, against Benedictine. Tip-Off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
