Women’s Basketball falls on the Road to Benedictine

(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State Women's Basketball team fell to the Benedictine Raven in a conference matchup on Tuesday, November 21, 69-87. The Bobcats are now 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the Heart of America Conference.
 
The Bobcats had a close first half, Kylie Diaz (Fr., Albertville, MN) started out the first quarter for the Bobcats with a two pointer.  Kaylan Larry (Sr., Little Rock, AR) came in with a successful shot behind the arch followed by another commanding shot from Natasha Deal (Jr., Winnebago, NE). The Bobcats kept pushing, finishing the first quarter 20-19.
 
In the second quarter,  Samantha Stewart (Sr., Mount Ayr, IA) started with a steal from the Ravens followed by a two-pointer assisted by Kylie Diaz. The Bobcats had a good rebounding game as they tallied them up throughout the second quarter, Diaz finishing the half with seven rebounds. The Bobcats went into halftime only down by one with a score of 36-37.
 
To start the second half, Kylie Diaz continued to dominate the court making the first two baskets for the Bobcats in the third quarter. Natasha Deal was a big asset for the Bobcats in the quarter with a big three pointer to help the Bobcats continue to go point for point with the Ravens, ending the half down 55-58.
 
In the final quarter, the Bobcats continued to try and fight back against the Ravens. Maddy Duncan (Sr., Hamburg, IA) having back to back baskets to help them keep pushing. Though the Bobcats never let up their efforts, the Ravens were able to take the win with a score of 69-87.
 
Natasha Deal led the team in points with 16 also having four rebounds. Kylie Diaz had a demanding rebound game, getting 12 rebounds and adding 10 points for the Bobcats. Kaylan Larry had 15 points with nine rebounds for the team. Hailey Ingram (Jr., Omaha, NE) and Maddy Duncan both had nine points at the conclusion of the game with Duncan adding four rebounds. Samantha Stewart also added eight points and four rebounds for the Bobcats.
 
Next: The Bobcats will take on the Vikings of Grand View in Peru, Nebraska, on Wednesday, November 29. Tipoff is set for 5:30 PM.
