Women’s Basketball Falls in Close Game to Ranked Grand View

(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State Women's Basketball team fell to the #23 Grand View Vikings at home 82-99 on Wednesday, November 29th. The Bobcats are now 4-4 overall and 1-3 in the Heart of America Conference.
 
The Bobcats were unstoppable to start out the first quarter, making three layups in a row followed by a 3-pointer by Samantha Stewart (Sr., Mount Ayr, IA). The Bobcats kept pushing throughout the quarter with Hailey Ingram (Jr., Omaha, NE) finishing the first with a good 3-pointer as the score was tied 24-24 going into the second.
 
In the second quarter, Sam Stewart had a layup in the paint with an assist from Natasha Deal to keep the game close with the Vikings. Big shots by Kaylan Larry (Sr., Little Rock, AR) and a final layup from Olivia Williams (Sr., Minneapolis, MN) ended the half as the Bobcats only trailed by one with a score of 41-42. Samantha Stewart led the team at half with 10 points and six rebounds.
 
Natasha Deal (Jr., Winnebago, NE) started out the third quarter for the Bobcats with a layup. The Vikings couldn't Kylie Diaz (Fr., Albertville, MN) as she scored seven during the third quarter. Multiple free throws and a final layup finished the third quarter send the Bobcats to the fourth only down by two with a score of 67-69.
 
In the final quarter of the game, Kylie Diaz made three layups in a row for the Bobcats to start. Even with strong efforts from Natasha Deal and Samantha Stewart throughout the quarter, the Vikings were able to pull ahead and get the win 82-99.
 
Samantha Stewart led the team against the Vikings with 20 points, eight rebounds and two steals. Kylie Diaz wasn't far behind with 19 points and five rebounds. Kaylan Larry racked up 11 points, eight assists, three rebounds and two steals for the Bobcats with Natasha deal also adding 11 points, six rebounds and four assists. Hailey Ingram had nine points, six rebounds and three assists against the Vikings.
 
Next: The Bobcats will travel to Fayette, MO, to take on the Central Methodist Eagles. Tipoff is set for 2:00 PM. Go Bobcats!
