Peru State Volleyball Falls at William Penn

Box Score (Peru, Neb.) – The Peru State volleyball team fell to William Penn Statesmen in Oskaloosa, Iowa in a 3-set match on Tuesday evening. The Bobcats are now 7-13 overall and 2-6 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
In the first set, the Bobcats started off strong with strong serving by Allie Schneider (SR., Humphrey, NE). Both the Bobcats and the Statesmen went point for point until the Statesmen took the lead at 9-11. A few big plays from Allison Schneider (SO., Humphrey, NE) brought the Bobcats even at 16-16. The Bobcats fought hard pushing the statesmen 27-25 to end the first set.
The Bobcats had a big start in the second set going 5-2 with two service aces from Allie Schneider and a big kill by Keiley Hein (SR., Omaha, NE), however, they weren't able to keep their lead as the Statesmen bounced by and were able to hold their lead to end the second set 12-25.
Moving into the third set, the Bobcats led the start with a 2-1 lead. Erison Vonderschmidt (FR., Falls City, NE), Keiley Hein and Elli Williams (JR., Olathe, KS) had a few big plays for the Bobcats throughout the third set to stay in the game. The Statesmen took the third set for a final score of 18-25.
Keiley Hein led the Bobcats with eight kills and 5 digs on the night. Addison Schneider, Allie Schneider and Erison Vonderschmidt also tallied 4 kills each for the match.
Chantal Paniagua (SR., Santo Domingo, D.R.) added 15 digs, with Allie Schneider adding 11 digs with 18 assists.
Next: The Bobcats take on Baker Wildcats in Baldwin City, Kansas on Friday, October 6th. The first serve is set for 6:00pm.
