The Peru State Football team defeated the William Penn Statesman 24-13, on Saturday Afternoon in Oskaloosa, Iowa. This is the Bobcats sixth consecutive win over the Statesman.
The Bobcats had a slow start to the first quarter. With 05:41 on the clock, the Statesman turned the ball over on downs.
Keyon Henry-Brooks rushed 68 yards to score the first touchdown of the game and
Mack Boekhout's field goal attempt was good. The score was 7-0 with 05:31 on the clock. The score was 7-7 at the end of the quarter.
In the second quarter, The Statesman were able to make it into the endzone. The score was 13-7 with 11:52 on the clock. They were able to make it back to the William Penn 05 before the ball was turned over on downs. The Statesman were only able to gain six yards on their try before having to punt putting the ball on the William Penn 47. The score after the first half was 7-13.
The Bobcats came out ready to fight in the second half. Peru State managed to stop the Statesman on the Peru State 49 after a tackle by
Justin Carfrey and
Alex Dzingle. The Bobcats took over on the William Penn 45.
Keyon Henry-Brooks and
Stacian Livingston rushed the ball all the way to the William Penn 26. A 19 yard pass to
Tyler Floyd from
Colin Shields to the William Penn 07 and another pass to
Jordan Kempf for 7 yards got the Bobcats into the endzone. A kick attempt by
Mack Boekhout was good, making the score 14-13 with 09:46 on the clock. The Bobcats kept fighting and with 02:26 on the clock, the
Kile Bentley forced a fumble which was recovered by
Ashley Thompson at the William Penn 19. After continuing to try and push to the endzone,
Mack Boekhout had a good field goal attempt from the 21 with 00:52 left on the clock. The score leaving the third quarter was 17-13.
After stopping the Statesman to start the fourth quarter, the Bobcats took over at the Peru State 20. After multiple complete passes from
Colin Shields and a total 28 rushing yards by
Keyon Henry-Brooks, the Bobcats made it to the William Penn 17. A complete pass from
Colin Shields to
Jordan Kempf for 17 yards give the Bobcats another Touchdown. The score is now 24-13 with 04:50 on the clock. The Statesman are stopped by the Bobcats to finish the game. The final score was 24-13.

Stacian Livingston added 58 net rushing yards. The Bobcats had a total of 257 net rushing yards while the Statesman were only allowed 129 on Saturday.
Tyler Floyd had 54 receiving yards with 4 receptions, followed by
Jordan Kempf who had 44 yards and 4 receptions.
On defense,
Kile Bentley led the team with 8 total tackles, 6 of which were solo tackles. He was followed by
Mason Benjamin who had a total of 6 tackles with 4 being solo tackles.
Ashley Thompson and
Duke McClinton both had 5 total tackles for the Bobcats.
Next: Peru State travels to Des Moines, Iowa next Saturday, October 28 to play #2 Grand View University. Kickoff is set for 1:00pm.
