Peru State Football Falls at #2 Grand View

(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State Football team falls to the Nationally Ranked No. 2 Grand View Vikings 45-0 Saturday afternoon in Des Moines, Iowa. The Bobcats are now 2-1 in the Heart of America Conference and 4-5 overall.
The game opened with the Vikings having the first possession of the ball making it all the way to the Peru 01. The Vikings fumbled the ball in the end zone which was recovered by Ka'Von Lofton (Apopka, Fla.). Peru State started their possession on the Peru 20. The Bobcats were able to get the ball to the Grand View 21 after a rush of a total 33 yards by Keyon Henry-Brooks (Powder Springs, Ga.) and a 17 yard complete pass from Colin Shields (Wichita, Kan.)to  Jordan Kempf (Arlington, Tex.) but the ball was turned over on downs. The Vikings take over the ball at the Grand View 21 and are able to make their way to the Peru State 04 before a tackle by Ashley Thompson (Springfield, Ga.) and errors by the Vikings force them to attempt a field goal which was good, making the score 0-3 to end the first quarter.
To start the second quarter, Stacian Livings (St. Louis, Mo.) rushed for a total 12 yards to the Grand View 25 where Mack Boekhout (Elkhorn, Neb.) attempted a field goal from the 42 but missed. The Vikings took over at the Grand View 25 and was able to make it down the field and score the first touchdown of the game making the score 0-10. The Bobcats took over at the Peru State 25 however, the team went three-and-out, and Lander Imbimbo (Newhaven, United Kingdom) punted. On the Vikings next three possessions, they extended their lead going into half to 31-0. 
The Bobcats were unable to build a comeback in the second half, as nationally ranked Vikings extended their lead through the final two quarters of play.  The final score came out to 0-45.
Colin Shields (Wichita, Kan.) finished with 16 completions for 120 passing cards. Keyon Henry-Brooks (Powder Springs, Ga. had a total 100 net rushing yards with the longest being 19 yards. TJ Mays (Cochran, Ga.) had a gain of 19 yards.  Jordan Kempf (Arlington, Tex.) had three receptions for 54 yards followed Buddy Belcher who also had three receptions with a total 21 yards.
On defense, Kile Bentley (Cairon Neb.) led the team with five total tackles and a sack, Ashley Thompson (Springfield, Ga. also added five tackles for the Bobcats. Walter Taylor IV (Kansas City, Mo), Mason Benjamin (Beaumont, Tex.) and Gerald Lewis (Kansas City, Mo) also tallied four tackles during the game.
Next: Peru State Football returns home to the Oak Bowl this Saturday, November 4th, to take on the Clarke Pride. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
