Peru State Men’s Basketball Finishes Non-Conference with Exhibition at Colorado State

(Peru, Neb)—The Peru State men's basketball team finished non-conference play with an exhibition match at NCAA Division I opponent Colorado State. Peru State hit a whopping 16 threes, but Colorado State was too much to handle as they won the game 115-72.
 
Below is a breakdown of how the game went…
 
Peru State got off to a hot start as Jibril Harris (Chicago) knocked down three straight three-pointers to get out to a 9-2 lead early in the first half. Colorado State then closed the gap as they went on a 10-5 run to make it a one-possession game as the Bobcats held on to a two-point 14-12 lead.
 
Harris immediately countered with another three as the Bobcats stretched their lead to five leading 17-12. The Rams then took their first lead of the game going on a 9-0 run to take a 21-17 lead with a little above 11 minutes to play in the first half.
 
Colorado State then pushed its lead to five as they were up 25-20, halfway through the first half. A 5-0 run by the Bobcats tied the game back at 25 all after a three by Man Man Baker (Aurora, Colo.).
 
Colorado State then went on an 8-0 run to take a 33-25 lead it seemed as if the Rams were going to pull away. Peru State played tough as they went on a 6-0 run to cut the lead to four after threes by Lorenzo Anderson (Lithonia, Ga.) and Harris.
 
Colorado State tried pull away again late in the first half as they were up 45-38 with around three minutes to go. Peru State closed the gap once more in the first after a three and dunk by Anderson as they trailed by three points 50-47.
 
The Rams knocked down a three at the buzzer to take a six-point 53-47 lead into the break.
 
Colorado State flexed its muscle coming out of halftime as they went on a 14-2 run to take an 18-point 67-49 lead in the first four minutes of the second half.
 
The Bobcats cut the lead down to the 16–18-point range a few times in the second half. Baker hit a three with 14 minutes left in the half as Peru State trailed 71-54.
 
Over the next seven minutes of action the Rams lead ballooned to 30 as the Bobcats trailed 94-64. Colorado State ended up defeating the Bobcats and won 115-72 Sunday afternoon.
 
Peru State shot 24-of-53 shooting 45% from the field, the Bobcats were three three-pointers away from breaking the single game record from deep broken earlier this year when they hit 18 against Avila, Peru State was 16-of-30 shooting 53.3% from beyond the arc and were 8-of-15 from the line shooting 53.3%.
 
Colorado State shot 44-of-63 from the field shooting 69.8%, they were 15-of-25 from beyond the arc shooting 60% and they were 12-of-14 from the charity stripe shooting 85.7%.
 
The Rams outscored the Bobcats 52-12 in the paint, Colorado State had 24 points off turnovers compared to Peru State's five and Colorado State outscored Peru State 47-20 off the bench.
 
Anderson led the way in points with 21, Harris was behind him with 16 and Savyon Traylor (Atlanta) put in ten. Harris led the way in rebounds with five and Baker finished with a team-high five assists.
 
Peru State hits the road this Wednesday, December 14, to play at Grand View in Des Moines, Iowa. Tip-Off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
