(Peru, Neb.) – On the second day of the KCAC Fall Fling in Hutchinson, Kan., the 'Cats would get revenge as they would beat Southwestern (Kan.) 3-2 in game one and beat York 3-0 in game two on August 21.
Peru State moves to 2-2 overall on the season.
Game One

In the first set, Peru State would strike first with a
Haley VanLeuven (Elgin, Ore.) kill. Southwestern would strike back. The game would be tied at 2 and at 3. A 7-1 run for Southwestern would see the 'Cats trailing 10-4 early on in the first set.
A 6-3 run by the 'Cats would cut into the lead to make it 13-10 in favor of Southwestern. A kill by
Paige Crouch (Holton, Kan.) would get the Bobcats within one 17-16. Three straight points for Southwestern would give them a 20-17 lead.
Peru State would fight back and tie the game at 21 all. Peru State would go on to win the set 25-23.
In set two Peru State got behind early in the set 0-2. The 'Cats would finally get on the board after an attacking error on Southwestern. Peru State would tie the game at 2 after a kill by
Jaddy Duarte (Brasilia, Brazil).
Southwestern would go on an 8-2 run to take at 10-4 lead. The closest the Bobcats would get would be 8-11 as Southwestern never trailed again after that to take the set 25-13.
Set number three saw the 'Cats come out strong as they scored the first three points of the set. Southwestern would chip away at the lead and tie the game at six. There would be five more ties after this. After a kill by Jamie Copenharve
(Omaha) Peru State would have a two-point lead
15-13.
The 'Cats never trailed again after taking the two-point lead. They would go on to win the set 25-21.
In set number four Peru State would jump out to the early 4-0 lead to start the set. Southwestern fought back and was able to tie the game at seven.
Southwestern would take the lead 8-7 and they would never trail again after this. The Moundbuilders were not able to extend the lead as the Bobcats kept it close for most of the rest of the game.
The Moundbuilders' biggest lead was six as they would on to win set number four 25-19.
Set five was dominated by the 'Cats as they would jump out to a quick 4-1 advantage. After Southwestern stopped the run to make it 4-2 the Bobcats would go on another 4-1 run to make it 8-3.
Peru State would never trail in the last set and would go on to win the set 15-5.
Duarte led the team with 14 kills while VanLeuven added 13 kills of her own.
Cassie Davis (Colorado Springs, Colo.) collected 22 assists in the contest.
Hannia Rios (Toa Baja, P.R.) added 20 assists of her own on day 2 of the KCAC Fall Fling.
Cheyenne Birkle (Holden, Mo.) had a team-high 20 digs.
Mattie Nichols (Auburn) and Davis each added 12 digs.
Game Two
The first set of game number two of the day saw the 'Cats get off to a very hot start as
Michelle Beer (Salem) got the 'Cats on the board early with a service ace. Peru State would score the next 11 points to take a commanding 12-0 lead over York.
Three straight points from York saw the Bobcats' lead get cut to single digits to 12-3. The Bobcats would get a kill off
Ofaloto Moungaafi (West Valley City, Utah) to spark another 8-3 run for the 'Cats to make the lead 20-6.
Hannah Burianek (Lincoln) would get a service ace to extend the lead 21-6.
Peru State would go on to win set number one of the second game of the KCAC Fall Fling 25-10.
The Bobcats would strike first off a kill by Copenharve to take the early 1-0 lead in the second set. York would tie the game at 1-1 and then
Ace Sawadogo (Omaha) would break the tie off a kill to make it 2-1.
Peru State would score three straight points and then York would score two straight points to make it 5-3 in favor of the 'Cats.
The closest York would get would be 9-8 as the 'Cats would never trail again in set number two as the Bobcats would go on to win 25-18.
Peru State started the third set off with a service ace from Beer. After, York scored Moungaafi would get a kill to give the Bobcats the lead at 2-1.
Sidney Peck (Manitoba, Canada) would get a kill to extend Peru State's lead in the set to 8-3.
York would tie the game at 9 all and even take the lead 10-9. York would then extend the lead to 13-11 before the 'Cats would stop York's run with a kill from Beer. The game would be tied at 14 and 15. Peru State would take the lead and never look back as they take the third set 25-21.
Beer led the team with five kills. Moungaafi and Copenharve each added five kills.
Birkle led the team with nine digs. Davis added seven digs of her own. Alyssa Block
(Plattsmouth) added five digs.

Peru State will be on the road at the College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Neb. The game is set to start at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 27.
