(Peru, Neb.) – The Bobcat softball team dropped its first two games of the Friends Tournament on Friday, but came back to win the nightcap 3-2 over Hastings.

Peru State fell to Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) 3-1 and then lost to Doane 8-3 before topping the Broncos. The Bobcats are now 4-6 on the season.

Hannibal La-Grange improved to 1-3 while Doane evened its mark at 7-7. Hastings fell to 4-7 on the year.

There was scoring only in the three half innings in the contest with Hannibal-LaGrange.
Tyler Farrell

Peru State scored its only run in the bottom of the fourth when
Tyler Farrell (Brandon, Fla.) homered to center on a 1-0 count.

The Trojans scored two in the top of the sixth to take the lead and added a run in the top of the seventh. The Bobcats had scoring opportunities in the bottom of the fifth and seventh, but could not capitalize.

Hannibal-LaGrange scored its three runs on nine hits and committed one error. Peru State scored its lone run on seven hits and also had one error.

Farrell led the 'Cats by going two of three and had one RBI. Five other Bobcats had one hit apiece.

Alana Krieser (Lincoln) threw the first six innings for Peru State and suffered the loss. Krieser allowed six hits, two earned runs, and struck out two.
Cheyenne Leach (Wymore) tossed an inning. Leach allowed three hits, one earned run, and struck out two.

Devyn Butorac (Westville, Fla.) singled to right.
Alyiah Franco (Syracuse, Utah) singled to short with Butorac stopping at second.
Carlye Rothschild (Eros, La.) tripled to right to drive in Butorac and Franco to tie the score.
Alaina Lacy (Lincoln) singled to center to give Peru State the lead at 3-2. The Bobcats would eventually leave two base runners in scoring position without scoring anymore.

Doane would tie the score in the bottom of the third and then scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth for the win.

The Tigers scored their eight runs on eight hits and had one miscue. Peru State scored its three runs on six hits and had four errors.

Rothschild went two of three to lead Peru State with two RBI. Lacy had the other RBI.

Layla Worthington (Holloday, Utah) threw a complete game and suffered the loss. Worthington allowed eight hits, eight runs – four earned, and struck out four.

After leaving a couple of base runners on base in the bottom of the first without scoring. In the bottom of the second, Peru State also left base runners on, but only after scoring three runs.

Butorac singled to left to start the inning. Franco doubled to center to score Butorac and would go to third on the wild throw. On a passed ball, Franco scored to make it 2-0. After two outs,
Takia Walker (Enterprise, Ala.) tripled to right.
Payton Beckmann
(Syracuse) reached on an error with Walker scoring. Peru State had more scoring chances, but left the bases loaded leading 3-0 at that point.

Hastings scored its two runs on the top of the third to trail 3-2 at that point.

Neither team did too much until the top of the seventh when the Broncos ended up leaving the bases loaded.

The Bobcats are playing two more games in the Friends Invitational. They will face Kansas Wesleyan at noon on Saturday. The Coyotes are currently 4-4 on the year. Originally, the 'Cats were to have faced Dakota State (S.D.) at 2 p.m., but there was a late change and Peru State will take on the tourney hosts. The Falcons are 7-1 on the season.

Peru State is scheduled to host its first home game on Monday providing there is enough sun to dry the remainder of its field. The Bobcats are to host the College of St. Mary in a double header beginning at 1 p.m. The Flames have begun the season with a 3-4 mark.
