(Peru, Neb.) – On March 29 the Bobcat softball team lost both games to Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) North opponent Grand View in Des Moines, Iowa. The first game was 8-0 and the second game was 8-0.

The Vikings improved to 14-8 overall and 8-2 in the Heart. Peru State is now 11-15 overall and 5-6 in the Heart.

Grand View scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and one run in the bottom of the second.

In the bottom of the third inning the Vikings offense scored four runs.

The Bobcats' only hit in the first game came in the fifth inning when
Carli Kohout (Cortland) singled to left center.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Grand View scored one more run to end the game.

Alana Krieser (Lincoln) pitched 4.1 innings and allowed 11 hits and 8 runs – all of which were earned. Krieser did manage to strike out 2 Grand View batters.

In the bottom of the first inning the Grand View offense was still clicking scoring four runs. They added one in run in the third and two in the fourth.

Just like game one Peru State's only hit in the game came in the top of the fifth when
Bailey Deal (Timothy, Colo.) singled to shallow left field.

In the bottom of the fifth the Vikings scored one run to end the game in five innings.

Layla Worthington (Holladay, Utah) pitched 3.1 innings and allowed 8 hits and 5 runs. All of the runs were earned. Worthington did have 2 strikeouts.

The Bobcats will play a pair of Heart South Division opponents this coming Friday and Saturday. On Friday, the Evangel Crusaders will be the opponents for a double header beginning at 2 p.m. Presently, Evangel is 15-7 on the season and are 4-6 in the Heart South.

On Saturday, the 'Cats host Missouri Valley in a double header beginning at 1 p.m. At this time, the Vikings are 10-7 overall and are 2-4 in the Heart South.
