Peru State WBB Wins Impressively 99-48 Over the Bears

(Peru, Neb.) – On Friday, Nov. 5, on the second day of the Doane Classic the Peru State women's basketball team would win 99-48 off 65 bench points. The Bobcats would improve to 2-3 on the year while the Barclay College Bears fell to 0-5.
 
1st Quarter
 
Peru State started off the game scoring the first bucket by Maria Alcantara (Recife, Brazil) as the Bobcats led 2-0 with 9:47 left.
 
At the 8:52 mark after the Bears would tie the game. The 'Cats would take the lead right back after a Alcantara made layup to lead 4-2.
 
Libby Baumert (Plattsmouth) made a three to extend the lead to five at 9-4 with 5:01 on the clock.
 
Peru State would end the first quarter on a 15-4 run to take a 24-8 lead.
 
2nd Quarter
 
The quarter would start the same for the 'Cats as Lycia Peevy (Paris, Ark.) made a layup on the opening Bobcat possession of the quarter.
 
The 'Cats would score once again on a made layup by Alcantara as the Bobcats led 28-8 with 8:44 left until halftime. Maddy Duncan (Hamburg, Iowa) made one out of two free throws as Peru State held a 21-point lead at 29-8.
 
The Bears would finally get on the board in the second quarter which ended the Bobcats 5-0 run to start the quarter but would still trail 29-10 with 8:03 left in the quarter.
 
The Bobcats lead would be back to 21 after a made three from Alcantara as the score would be 32-11 in favor of the Bobcats.
 
The Bobcats would extend the lead to 28 as the quarter ended as they led 46-18 after the first 20 minutes.
 
3rd Quarter
 
After one minute went by to start the second half Duncan made a jump shot for the first points of the half as Peru State led 48-18.
 
At the 7:01 mark the Bobcats held a 37-point lead after a Hailey Ingram (Omaha) made three with the score at 57-20.
 
At the 3:20 mark the Bobcats would see their first 40 point led at 63-23 after a made layup by Natasha Deal (Winnebago).
 
After the 30 minutes of play the score would be Peru State 72 Barclay 32.
4th Quarter
 
To start the quarter the Bears would convert an old-fashion three-point play to get the quarter off but would still trail 72-33.
 
Just over nine minutes remaining as the Bobcats would lead 75-35 after a Deal made three-pointer would be good.
 
Peru State would see its largest lead up to this point after a Baumert made three as the 'Cats led 81-35 with just under eight minutes remaining in the game.
 
The 'Cats would cruise the rest of the game and would win their second contest of the year 99-48.
 
Stats
 
Peru State shot 36-81 for 44.4% which included 10-31 from three for 32.2%. Bobcats connected on 17-22 free throws for 77.3%.
 
Baumert had a game-high 24 points on 8-13 shooting which included 5-10 from long distance. Samantha Stewart (Mount Ayr, Iowa) was second on the team with 17. Deal would add ten and the only started in double figures would be Alcantara. All Bobcats in uniform scored in the contest.
 
Keisha Snyder (Winnebago) finished with a game-high 12 rebounds while Jescenia Mosely (Shenandoah, Iowa) finished with seven. Stewart added another six boards.
 
Baumert would have a game-high four assists while Keisha Synder (Winnebago) and Adreal Bell (Independence, Mo.) each added three.
 
Ingram, Mosely, and Peevy each added two steals.
 
Julie Miller (Easton, Kan.) had two blocks while Deal and Peevy added one each.
