(Peru, Neb.) – On Saturday, Nov. 6, the Peru State football team would finish a perfect 5-0 inside the Oak Bowl as the 'Cats beat Graceland University 51-7. With the win the Bobcats would improve to 7-3 overall and 3-1 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference North Division.
The Yellowjackets fell to 0-10 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
1st Half
After forcing Graceland to punt on their opening drive, the Bobcats would find the endzone on a 16-yard touchdown run from
Quinton Hawkins (Richmond, Va.). The 'Cats would go for two and convert on a
Grant Gutschow (Elkhorn) run as the Bobcats would lead 8-0.
The defense would get a safety on the Yellowjackets to go up two more as the 'Cats led by ten at 10-0.
Hawkins would find six points once again this time on a two-yard run as the two-point conversion would be no good. Peru State would have a 16-0 lead at this point. Still in the first quarter with 2:39 left, the Bobcats would find the endzone again. This on a 35-yard touchdown scamper by
Ki'Jana Owens (North Platte). The PAT would be good by
Shane McInerney (Galway Ireland) as the lead would go to 23 to end the first quarter.
In the second quarter the Bobcats found the endzone twice. The first one would be a Hawkins running touchdown from two yards out and a later a 23-yard run by Orreon Finely
(Memphis, Tenn.). McInerney would make both of his PATs as the 'Cats would go into half time leading 37-0.
2nd Half
On the Bobcats first drive of the third quarter Hawkins would find the endzone for the fourth time of the day as he would run it in from seven yards out. The PAT would be good by McInerney as the lead would grow by seven.
The Yellowjackets would get on the board with a running touchdown from just one yard out as Peru State led 44-7 with 4:30 remaining in the third quarter.
Hawkins' fifth rushing touchdown would be from seven yards out as McInerney made his final PAT attempt of the game.
Peru State ended up winning its fifth home game of the year 51-7.
Stats
Joey Dominguez (Von Ormy, Texas) was 5-9 for 47 yards through the air.
Hawkins carried the ball 22 times for 151 yards and five scores while Owens ran the ball 25 times for 148 yards and one score.
Navi Marshall (Calhoun Falls, S.C.) ran the ball six times for 62 yards while Finley had one carry for a 23-yard touchdown.
Finley led the team with three catches for 20 yards while Marshall and
Marlon Warren (Vancleave, Miss.) each had one reception.
Travis Reed (Hickman) led the team with eight total tackles with one solo. Reed also forced a fumble and recovered that fumble.
Nick Andrews (Ruston, La.) added six tackles with two solos. Andrews added two sacks for a loss of 10.
Kobe Windham (Vancleave, Miss.) and
Carlos Thomas (Gulf Port, Miss.) each added one interception. Windham returned his for seven yards while Thomas returned his for 20.

Peru State will finish up their regular season visiting Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Mo. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
This contest will decide which of the teams will finish second in the Heart North Division as both teams are 7-3 overall and 3-1 in conference action.
