Peru State Football Team Season Ends with a Loss to Culver-Stockton

(Peru, Neb.) – On Saturday, Nov. 13, the Peru State football team traveled to Canton, Mo. to take on the #24 Culver-Stockton College (C-SC). The Wildcats would win a in low-scoring contest 10-3 to improve to 9-3 overall and 4-1 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
 
The Bobcats fell to 7-4 on the year and 3-2 in the Heart.
 
The Wildcats would score first in the contest off a two-yard touchdown run to take the lead 7-0 with 8:55 remaining in the first quarter.
 
At the 4:30 mark of the quarter the Bobcats would get on the board with 38-yard field goal from Shane McInerney (Galaway, Ireland) as Culver-Stockton led 10-3.
 
There would be no more scoring in the second quarter and the third quarter as both defenses were playing well.
 
The Wildcats led by seven after a they made a 32-yard field goal with 2:09 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Bobcats would be unable to drive the length of the field to tie the game up as C-SC would run out the clock to win its eighth game of the season.

Joey Dominguez (Von Ormy, Texas) had 89 passing yards while Devin Adams (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) was second on the team in passing going 2-2 for 36 yards.
 
Ki'Jana Owens (North Platte) led the team with 21 carries for 64 yards while Dominguez had 14 carries for 32 yards.
 
Dremel Jackson (Kansas City, Mo.) would have four catches for 50 yards which led the team. Travis Dockery (Olive Branch, Miss.) was second on the team with two catches for 37 yards.
 
Clayton Thrasher (Mandeville, La.) led the team with 11 total tackles which four of them were solos. Travis Reed (Hickman) added 10 tackles – eight solos and one sack for a loss of five yards.
 
Michael Lombardi (Peru) and Armunz Mathews (Quincy, Fla.) each added five tackles. Lombardi added four solo tackles and a sack for a loss of 10 yards. Mathews had two solos and an assisted tackles for loss for a five-yard loss.
 
Season Completed
 
The season ended for the Bobcats but proved to be the best season since 2017 when Peru State finished with an identical 7-4 overall record.
