(Peru, Neb.) – The 20
th-ranked Central Methodist (CMU) baseball team showed why they were deserving of the early national ranking on Sunday when they hosted Peru State in Fayette, Mo.
The Eagles swept the Bobcats 11-1 and 9-2 to move their win streak to 13 games in a row. Overall, CMU is 14-3 on the season and are 4-0 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart). Peru State, which had swept its Heart opener on Saturday, fell to 2-2 in conference play and 6-10 overall.

Central Methodist scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Eagles added two runs in each of the third, fourth, and fifth to lead 10-0. In the bottom of the sixth, CMU added their final run.

Peru State had several scoring opportunities without capitalizing on them as they left two on base in the top of first and left the bases loaded in the top of the fifth.

The Bobcats did score their lone run in the top of the seventh.
Joycer Raymondi (Berwyn, Ill.) reached on a walk and went to second when
Jose Chacin (Machiques, Venezuela) singled to shallow right-center. On a
Hector Torres (Gurabo, Puerto Rico) sacrifice fly to center, Raymondi score Peru State's only run.

CMU scored their 11 runs on seven hits and committed one error. The 'Cats scored their lone run on six hits and had one error.
Adam Cendejas holds an Eagle base runner close to first. Cendejas led
the team in batting Sunday with three hits and two RBIs.

Adam Cendejas (Chino Hills, Calif.) was the only Bobcat to have more than one hit. Torres was credited for the lone RBI.

Keniel Cruz (Cayey, Puerto Rico) started on the mound for the Bobcats and was tagged for the loss. Cruz threw 3.1 innings and gave up five hits, eight earned runs, and struck out two.
Luis Pacheco (Miami, Fla.) tossed the final 2.2 innings. Pacheco allowed two hits and three earned runs.

Like the first game, CMU would score all of their runs before the Bobcats could get on the board. The Eagles plated one run in the first, two in the second, one in the third, two in the fourth, and three in the fifth to take a 9-0 lead.

The only real scoring threat Peru State had early in the game came in the top of the third when they left two on base.

The Bobcats would score their two runs in the top of the sixth.
Darrien Liriano (Orlando, Fla.) singled up the middle to start the inning. After an out, Liriano would move to second on a ground out. Cendejas would hit a two-run home run over the center field fence on a 1-2 count for Peru State's only scoring.

Central Methodist scored their nine runs on 12 hits and committed two errors. The Bobcats scored their two runs on just three hits and finished the game with three miscues.

Manual Caballero (Dolega, Panama) each had one hit for Peru State. Cendejas had both RBI.

Caballero started the game on the bump for Peru State and suffered the loss. Caballero threw four innings and gave up eight hits, six earned runs, and struck out four.
Blake Feeken (Crete) tossed the final two innings. Feeken allowed four hits, three earned runs, and struck out one.

Peru State will travel to Crete on Tuesday to face Doane in one nine-inning contest beginning at 2 p.m. The Tigers have started the season with a 3-4 mark.

This coming Saturday and Sunday, the Bobcats will be back in Heart action as they travel to Lamoni, Iowa, to take on Graceland. The two teams will play a double header on Saturday and then one game on Sunday. Both days, the contests are to start at 1 p.m. The Yellowjackets are 3-13 overall and are 1-3 in the Heart having split a double header on Sunday with Missouri Valley.

The following weekend, the 'Cats will host Grand View (Iowa) for a similar game set-up with Graceland since the Vikings are North Division opponents. The teams will play a double header on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. and then play a single contest on Sunday, also beginning at 1 p.m. Grand View has begun the year with a 2-10 overall mark and are winless in the conference at 0-4.
