(Peru, Neb.) – With 15:38 left in the game, the Peru State men's basketball team trailed Culver-Stockton (C-SC) 57-41 in Canton, Mo., on Saturday. Over the course of the next 15+ minutes, the Bobcats outscored the Wildcats 46-19 to win 86-76 in a Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) North Division contest.
With the win, Peru State broke a three-game losing streak and improved to 3-3 on the season and 1-2 in the Heart North. Culver-Stockton fell to 0-3 on the season and are 0-3 in conference play.
First Half Action
The first half saw nine ties and four lead changes. After the Wildcats scored the first bucket of the contest,
Henry Tanksley (Lincoln) tied it up for the Bobcats. The game would be later tied at 4, 6, and eight before Peru State went on a 7-0 run.
Skyler Wilson (Omaha) started the run off a fast break with a bucket and later would dish off an assist to William Lybaek
(Trondheim, Norway) to put the Bobcats up 15-8 with 14:52 on the clock.

The Wildcats would go on a 9-2 run to take the lead before Lybaek knotted the game at 17. After ties at 19 and 21, again, Peru State would go on another 7-0 run. This time it started with a bucket by
DJ Fields (Omaha) off an assist from Tanksley. It ended with a three-point bucket by
Vinny Barron (Grand Prairie, Texas) off an assist from Wilson. With 7:05 left, Peru State led 28-21.
Culver-Stockton would fight back and eventually knot the score at 33 and would go ahead with a trey.
Carl Brown (Omaha) would tie it with a three-pointer off an assist from Wilson.
Then, during the last two minutes, the Wildcats went on a 10-2 run to lead 46-38 at the halftime break.
Second Half Action
The Wildcats would start the half with an 11-3 run to lead by at 16 57-41 with 15:38 on the clock.
Peru State would then go on a 16-0 run which started with a bucket by
Tyler Witt (Falls City) who had grabbed an offensive rebound and put it back in. The big run finished with a trey by Barron off an assist from Lybaek.
Culver-Stockton would go back up by as many as five and led 65-60. Again, another run by the Bobcats would eventually put Peru State up 67-66 after Tanksley hit a bucket in the paint with 6:40 left.
After ties at 67 and 68, Wilson completed an old-fashioned three-point play to give Peru State a 71-68 lead with a little under five minutes left in the game.
Later, the Wildcats would still be within one at 75-74 at the 3:22 mark. The Bobcats would finish off the game with an 11-2 run as Anthony Braggs, Jr.
(Tacoma, Wash.) scored the final two points with a pair of free throws.

Both teams shot the ball well as the Bobcats made 32 of 59 field goals for 54.2% which included hitting 7 of 19 from behind the arc for 36.8%. At the charity stripe, Peru State went 15 of 19 for 78.9%. The Wildcats connected on 26 of 60 field goal tries for 43.3% and made 4 of 18 from long range for 22.2%. At the free throw line, C-SC went 20 of 28 of 71.4%.
The Bobcats had a big rebounding edge as they grabbed 42 boards compared to 27 for Culver-Stockton. Peru State finished with one more assist than the Wildcats as they had 14.
Peru State had 15 turnovers while the Wildcats had 11. The Bobcats blocked four shots while C-SC had one. Culver-Stockton finished with one more steal than Peru State as they had seven.

Five Peru State players finished with five players in double figures. Tanksley led the team with 19 points on 7 of 11 shooting from the floor. Lybaek added 16 while Wilson finished with 13. Barron and Fields came off the bench to score 11 and 10 respectively.

Amitai Afenjar (Los Angeles) grabbed six. Wilson, Barron,
Craig Jordan (Compton, Calif.), and Fields each added four boards.
Wilson dished out a game-high four assists with Tanksley and Lybaek each dishing out three.
Fields blocked two shots with Afenjar and Brown each blocking one.

Upcoming Contests
Peru State will be travelling to Oskaloosa, Iowa, Wednesday night to take on the NAIA preseason #4 William Penn Statesmen with the game beginning at approximately 7:30 p.m. William Penn in 6-0 overall and are 4-0 in the Heart North.
The Bobcats will then host two contests in a row. On Saturday, Dec. 5, MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) will be the opponent at 4 p.m. The Pioneers are 3-4 overall and are 0-4 in the Heart South having lost four in a row.
Then, on Monday, Dec. 7, Peru State will host Graceland (Iowa) at 7:30 p.m. The Yellowjackets are 0-3 on the year and are 0-3 in conference play.
