(Peru, Neb.) – The Graceland Yellowjackets took a double header on Tuesday in Lamoni, Iowa, to win all four games this season with the visiting Peru State Bobcat softball team.

The 'Jackets won 8-0 in six innings and then took the nightcap 7-1 to improve to 14-13 overall and 7-9 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart). Peru State fell to 4-24 on the season and are now 3-17 in conference action.

Graceland scored three in the bottom of the first, one in the bottom of the fourth, and two in each of the fifth and sixth innings to win 8-0 in six innings.

The Yellowjackets scored their eight runs on nine hits and did not commit any errors. The Bobcats had four hits in the loss and committed one error.

Payton Beckmann (Syracuse), Tyler Farrell (Brandon, Fla.), Morgan Ritchie (Lincoln), and
Regan Kirby (Gretna) each had one hit for the Bobcats.

Alana Krieser (Lincoln) started the game for Peru State and was tagged for the loss. Krieser went 4.1 innings and allowed 7 hits – 6 earned, and struck out 3.
Bailey Bitz (Ravenna) threw the final inning. Bitz gave up 2 hits and 2 earned runs.

The 'Jackets scored one in the bottom of the first to take an early lead.

In the top of the third, after an out,
Takia Walker (Enterprise, Ala.), singled to left. After another out, Farrell singled to right with Walker moving to third.
Ally Hazen (North Platte) reached on a walk to load the bases. Ritchie singled thru the hole at shortstop to score Walker to tie the game at 1-1. Unfortunately, the Bobcats would leave the bases loaded without adding any more runs.

Graceland would break the tie in the bottom of the third by scoring two runs and then added four more runs in the bottom of the fifth for the 7-1 win.

The Yellowjackets scored their seven runs on seven hits and did not have any errors. The 'Cats scored their lone run on eight hits and did not commit any errors.

Beckmann was the only Bobcat with more than one hit. Ritchie was credited with the lone RBI.

Ritchie was on the mound for the Bobcats and suffered the loss. She threw 5.1 innings while allowing 7 hits, 7 earned runs, and struck out 2.
Gabriella Stage (Topeka, Kan.) threw the final two outs and did not allow any hits or runs.

Peru State is right back on the road on Wednesday as they head south to Lindsborg, Kan., to face Bethany in a double header beginning at 5 p.m. The Swedes are presently 11-23 on the season having dropped a double header on Monday.

The Bobcats will then be home this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in Heart action. Culver-Stockton (Mo.) will be the opponent on Friday and Saturday with the Wildcats being the home team on Friday. Both days' games will begin at 1 p.m. The Wildcats is 18-13 on the season and are 12-6 in conference play.

Saturday will be Senior Day for Bobcats'
Morgan Ritchie and
Taylor Moya (Keenesburg, Colo.). They will be recognized between games.

On Sunday, the 'Cats will host William Penn (Iowa) in a double header schedule to start at 2 p.m. The Statesmen are 16-22 overall and are 7-11 in Heart play.
