Peru State Junior Varsity WBB to Open on Halloween

(Peru, Neb.) – For the first time in at least 20 or more years, there are two Peru State women's basketball teams who will be competing in the same season.

With the College's decision last year to start a junior varsity program in four different sports, the Bobcats will have a second basketball program. Its season will start Halloween night, along with the varsity program, when the 'Cats travel to Hastings to take on the Broncos. Game time for the junior varsity contest is 4 p.m.

Assistant coach Ian Holleran will be the coach for the team and was part of the initial recruiting process for both the varsity and junior varsity teams. Holleran, along with head coach Joan Albury, recruited nine girls for the junior varsity team who will join two red-shirts to comprise the squad.

The group is heavily guard-oriented and will look to move the ball down and the court and to play tenacious defense.
