(Peru, Neb.) – The 24
th- ranked Bellevue Bruins proved to be just a little too much for the Peru State volleyball team to handle Wednesday night. The hosts swept the Bobcats 25-22, 25-21, 25-19 to improve to 6-3 on the season.
With the loss, the 'Cats dropped to 1-6.

Nadja Janjevic (Podgorica, Montenegro) added seven kills.
Cami Ruiz (Bogota, Columbia) and
Kira Shapiro (Omaha) each finished with six kills. The middles – Janjevic and Ruiz – both had good hitting nights as they hit .455 and .462 respectively.

Darlene Quinonez Holguin (Las Cruces, N.M.) led the team with 16 assists while
Hannah Burianek (Lincoln) contributed nine.
Taylor Thompson (Norfolk) finished with seven assists.

The Bobcats will be participating in the Five Points Bank Classic in Hastings hosted by Hastings College on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, the 'Cats will play Friends (Kan.) at 3 p.m. and McPherson (Kan.) at 7 p.m. The Falcons are 5-6 on the year having lost their last two matches. The Bulldogs are 10-0 and are presently receiving votes in the most recent NAIA Coaches Top 25 Poll.

On Saturday, Peru State will be facing Kansas Wesleyan at 10 a.m. and then Columbia (Mo.) at 4 p.m. The Coyotes are off to an 8-3 start and have won five in a row. The Cougars are ranked third in the NAIA after starting the season with a 5-1 mark which included knocking off last year's national champion Lindsey Wilson (Ky.).

Peru State will host its first home match on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. The defending Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) champion Grand View (Iowa) will be the opponent. The Vikings are 8-0 on the year and moved up to second in the most recent coaches' poll.
