(Peru, Neb.) – While it could have been that the Bobcat volleyball team was tired from its previous night loss at Benedictine, but whatever the situation, they could not overcome the Baker Wildcats Saturday afternoon in Baldwin City, Kan.

With the loss the 'Cats fell to 5-13 overall on the year and dropped to 1-5 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart). The Wildcats improved to 8-12 on the season and 3-4 in conference play.

Two big team statistics were that Baker took almost double the number of attack attempts as the Bobcats and also had ten service aces compared to just two for the 'Cats.

No Bobcat finished in double digits in kills.
Nadja Janjevic (Podgorica, Montenegro), Yorgelys Jaspe (San Carlos, Venezuela), and
Hannah Sexton (Beatrice) each finished with six kills with Janjevic hitting at a .417 rate.

Hannah Burianek (Lincoln) was the team's top setter as she finished with 13 assists while
Darlene Quinonez Holguin (Las Cruces, N.M.) finished with five.

Claire Cudney (Marysville, Mo.) and
Taylor Thompson (Norfolk) each had a service ace in the loss.

Cudney led the team with a match-high 32 digs – the most of her career since moving into the libero position. Thompson added 17 while Burianek finished with nine. Jaspe contributed eight.

Peru State was not credited with any solo blocks, but did finish with eight block assists.
Tyra Mollhoff (Lincoln), Kira Shapiro (Omaha), and Janjevic each were credited with two block assists while Jaspe and Sexton each had one block assist.

The Bobcats will be on the road Tuesday for one of their long road trips as they travel to Oskaloosa, Iowa. The 'Cats will take on William Penn at 7 p.m. The Statesmen are 13-5 overall and are 2-2 in the Heart having defeated Culver-Stockton (Mo.) on Saturday.

Peru State will be at home on Friday and Saturday for contests against Missouri Valley and Evangel. On Friday, the Bobcats and Vikings will pare off at 7 p.m. Mo Valley is 12-8 overall and are 5-2 in conference play having won their last five Heart matches.

On Saturday, the 'Cats will face the Crusaders at 2 p.m. Evangel is presently 12-10 overall and are 4-3 in the Heart having won two conference matches this weekend.
