(Peru, Neb.) – The Grand View Viking softball team took a second-straight double header win over Peru State in Des Moines on Thursday.

The Bobcats were able to get on the scoreboard this time after being blanked on Tuesday. Grand View took the first game 10-1 in five innings while the second game was much more competitive 4-2.

Grand View is now 26-4 overall and 16-2 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) North Division. The 'Cats fell to 9-27 on the year and are now 4-18 in conference play.

Grand View scored two in the first, six in the second, and two in the third to lead 10-0 before Peru State scored in the top of the fifth.

After an out,
Sandy Garcia (Strasburg, Colo.) doubled to deep right-center. On a passed ball, Garcia moved to third. On a ground out, Garcia scored for the Bobcats' only run of the first game.

The Vikings scored their ten runs on 11 hits and did not commit any errors. Garcia had Peru State's only run and hit.
Ally Hazen (North Platte) was credited with the RBI. The Bobcats did not commit any errors.

Morgan Ritchie (Lincoln) started on the mound and threw two innings while suffering the loss. Ritchie allowed eight hits, eight earned runs, and struck out two. Hazen tossed the final two innings. She allowed three hits and two earned runs.

The Vikings scored all of their runs again before Peru State got on the scoreboard. Grand View scored one in the first, two in the second, and added one more in the bottom of the fourth for their 4-0 lead.

In the top of the sixth, the Bobcats were able to get on the scoreboard.
Taylor Moya (Keenesburg, Colo.) singled to the infield to start the inning and went to second when
Tyler Farrell (Brandon, Fla.) singled to deep right. Both base runners advanced on a wild pitch. After an out,
Megan Hartman (Lincoln) singled thru the hole at shortstop.
Rachel Carlos (Kaneohe, Hawaii) reached on a fielder's choice with Moya forced out at home. Garcia doubled to left to drive in Farrell and Hartman. But, that would be it for Peru State scoring as two were stranded on base.

Grand View scored their four runs on six hits and did not commit any errors. Peru State actually outhit the Vikings as they scored their two runs on eight hits and also did not commit any errors.

Elizabeth Nelson (Adams) each had two hits to lead the 'Cats. Garcia was credited with both RBI.

Hartman was the losing pitcher as she pitched a complete game. In the six innings, she allowed six hits, four earned runs, and struck out four.

Mother Nature continues to mess with all of the spring sports. Peru State was to play a pair of double headers at home, but instead will be on the road for both this weekend due to the impending weather.

The Bobcats will be in Baldwin City, Kan., on Friday to take on the 25
th-ranked Baker Wildcats in a double header beginning at 3 p.m. The Wildcats are 26-7 on the year and are 15-5 in the Heart South.

On Sunday, Peru State will be in Atchison, Kan., to face Benedictine in a double header starting at 2 p.m. The Ravens are 19-13 overall and are 9-11 in the Heart South.

Peru State will be on the road in the middle of next week for a pair of double headers at William Penn and Clarke respectively.

Next weekend will be Parents/Senior Day when the Bobcats host Culver-Stockton on Saturday at 1 p.m.
