(Peru, Neb.) – The Grand View Vikings proved why they moved into the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll Tuesday as they white-washed the Peru State softball team in Peru.

The Vikings took the first game 8-0 and came back with a 7-0 victory in the second game.

With the wins, Grand View, now tied for 22
nd in the most recent poll, is now 22-5 overall and are 12-3 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) North Division. The Bobcats fell to 9-25 on the year and are 4-16 in the Heart North.

Game One Notes
Â
The Vikings did not score until the fourth inning when they had three runs. They added three more in the fifth and one each in the sixth and seventh for their 8-0 win.

Grand View scored their eight runs on 13 hits and did not commit any errors. Peru State had five hits and committed two errors.

Tyler Farrell (Brandon, Fla.), Megan Hartman (Lincoln), Ally Hazen (North Platte), Sandy Garcia (Strasburg, Colo.), and
Shelbi Audsley (Prescott Valley, Ariz.) each had one hit with Hazen being credited with a double.

Morgan Ritchie (Lincoln) tossed a complete game and suffered the loss. Ritchie allowed 13 hits, eight runs – six earned, and struck out four.

Game Two Notes

Grand View did score two in the top of the first before adding one run in the third and fourth. The Vikings would plate three more in the top of the seventh for the final 7-0 score.

The Vikings scored their seven runs on nine hits and committed two errors. Peru State managed four hits and had one miscue.

Farrell had two of Peru State's hits with Hartman and
Elizabeth Nelson (Adams) each having one hit.

Hartman was the losing pitcher as she threw a complete game. She allowed nine hits, seven runs – six earned, and struck out three.

Due to a rescheduling of Tuesday's games, the next match-up for both teams will be a home date in Des Moines with the same two teams pairing up. The doubleheader will begin at 3 p.m.

The Bobcats are scheduled to host another pair of conference double headers this weekend – Mother Nature permitting.

On Saturday, it will be a battle of the 'Cats as the Baker Wildcats are due to be in Peru for a double header beginning at 1 p.m. The Wildcats are 25-6 on the year and are 14-4 in Heart South play. In the most recent coaches' poll, Baker was tied for 25
th.

On Sunday, Benedictine will be in town for a double header also beginning at 1 p.m. Presently, the Ravens are 19-13 overall and are 9-11 in the Heart South.
