(Peru, Neb.) – Danny Shouse is the 36th of 84 individuals and/or teams being recognized as part of the lead up to the 31
st Peru State Hall of Fame Induction ceremony.
As Nebraska and Peru State are both celebrating their 150
th birthdays, the College is also hosting special events throughout the year. The next big event on campus will be the Peru State Athletic Hall of Fame banquet which will take place on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 22 and 23.
As a lead up to the upcoming Hall of Fame event, the 84 individuals and/or teams will be recognized on a daily basis with one noted on each of the 84 days prior to the event.
Shouse
, originally from
Terre Haute, Indiana, was inducted for his success on the basketball court while at Peru State.

The inscription on Shouse's plaque which is exhibited in the upper lobby of the Al Wheeler Activity Center reads as follows: "Always a crowd favorite, Danny Shouse burst onto the Peru State basketball scene in 1976. By the time the explosive Indiana native moved on to a professional career in Europe, he had set the PSC career scoring mark with 1,893 points per game - in just three seasons. A three – time NAIA All- District selection, Shouse's pro career was highlighted by a 100-point game. After he retired, Shouse returned to PSC and earned a degree in 1990."

Njarðvík in 1981 and 1982. He set the Icelandic single-game scoring record in 1979 when he scored 100 points.

Ármann in 1979. He first played during the Reykjavík basketball tournament, where he scored 64 and 70 points in his first two games.

In January of 1980 he scored 76 points in an overtime loss against
Grindavík and in February he broke the 70 point barrier again, scoring 72 points against
Þór Akureyri. His scoring prowess helped Ármann win Division I and achieve promotion to the Úrvalsdeild. Even though Shouse played in the nations tier 2 league during his first season, he was widely regarded as one of the best players in the country .
After the season, Shouse signed with
Úrvalsdeild club
Njarðvík and helped them win two Icelandic championships, in 1981 and 1982.He led the Úrvalsdeild in scoring both years and was named the 1981
Úrvalsdeild Foreign Player of the Year.

player-coach for Njarðvík during the 1980-1981 season, leading them to a 17-3 record and the national championship. He coached Njarðvík's women's team during the 1981-1982

His all-time season scoring mark of 771 from 1978-78 stood up until February of 2016 when Corday Sims became the all-time single-season scoring leader. Shouse still is in the Bobcat record books in the following statistics: single-season field goal attempts – 651 in 1978-79, career scoring leader – 1,867, career field goals made – 806, and career field goals attempted – 1,679. In addition, he has several other top ten marks which still stand.
Shouse was inducted into the Peru State Hall of Fame on October 24, 1998, as a member of the 13th class.
