(Peru, Neb.) – The Bobcat softball put together a pair of solid performances and swept the visiting Yellowjackets of Graceland on Tuesday. Peru State won 4-0 and 7-3 at the Centennial Complex Field.

With the double headers sweep the Bobcats improved to 15-28 overall and 10-18 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart). Graceland fell to 15-19 on the season and are 7-13 in conference action.

Alexis Paulo-Meyers (Waianae, Hawaii) hit a home run to lead off the bottom of the first on a 0-1 count to deep right-center. That 1-0 lead would hold until the bottom of the fourth when Peru State added more runs.

Morgan Ritchie (Lincoln) singled to left-center and eventually went to third when
Megan Hartman (Lincoln) doubled to deep left-center. After an out,
Chelsea Reznicek (Omaha) bunted and reached on a base hit while Ritchie scored and Hartman advanced to third. On the play, Reznicek moved up to second. On a fly out by
Sandy Garcia (Strasburg, Colo.), Hartman scored with Reznicek moving to third.
Amberlin Scharsch (Aiea, Hawaii) doubled to left-center with Reznicek scoring the fourth and final run of the game.

Peru State scored their four runs on 11 hits and did not commit any errors. Graceland was held to three hits and also did not have any errors.

Paulo-Meyers,
Taylor Moya (Keenesburg, Colo.), Ritchie, Hartman, and Scharsch each had two hits in the first game. Paulo-Meyers, Reznicek, Scharsch, and Garcia each had one RBI.

Nicole Reznicek (Omaha) was on the mound and tossed a complete game for the shutout and win. Reznicek allowed just three hits and did not walk anyone while striking out eight.

Graceland scored a run in the top of the first in the second game and it held up until the bottom of the third.

In the bottom of the third, Paulo-Meyers homed to deep center on a 1-2 count to tie the game at 1-1.

In the top of the fourth, the Yellowjackets regained the lead by scoring two runs to make it 3-1. But, the 'Cats would respond in a big way in the bottom of the fourth.

Hartman tripled to deep left to start the inning and
Tyler Farrell (Brandon, Fla.) singled to shallow center to drive in Hartman.
Holly Kurz (Omaha) entered to run for Farrell.
Erin Snyder (Omaha) singled to shallow right with Kurz advancing to second. After an out, Scharsch bunted and reached on a base hit to load the bases. Paulo-Meyers stepped to the plate and hit a grand slam to deep center on a 2-1 count to put the Bobcats up 6-3 at that point. Moya was hit by a pitch and
Leah Quick (Kansas City, Kan.) singled to the pitcher's mound with Moya going to second on a wild throw. Moya would then steal third as Quick stole second. Moya would come in to score on another Graceland error for the seventh and final run for Peru State.

The 'Cats scored their seven runs on ten hits and did not have any errors. Graceland scored their three runs on eight hits and committed three errors.

Moya started on the mound and threw four innings for the win. Moya allowed five hits, three earned runs, and struck out four. Ritchie tossed the final three innings and allowed three hits while striking out one.

Peru State is right back at it on Wednesday when they host William Penn (Iowa) for a double header beginning at 2 p.m. The teams split a double header earlier in the season. The Statesmen are 18-23 overall and are 6-16 in the Heart.

This Saturday, the Bobcats will be in Canton, Mo., to face Culver-Stockton in a double header starting at noon. The Wildcats are 17-21 overall and are 10-17 in conference play so the games are important to both teams in terms of making the post-season tournament.

On Sunday, Peru State will play its final non-conference games of the season when face Hastings College in Hastings at 1 p.m. The Broncos are 24-18 on the season.
