(Peru, Neb.) – The Bobcat baseball team played a non-conference double header and lost both to host Friends in Wichita, Kan., on Wednesday.

The Falcons won the first game 5-1 and then took the nightcap 4-3.

Friends improved to 25-15 with the two wins while the Bobcats fell to 21-11.

After an out in the top of the first,
Gianfranco Garlobo (Carolina, Puerto Rico) reached on a walk. After a second out, Garlobo stole second.
Sterling Rupp (Grand Island) delivered a single up the middle to drive in Garlobo for what would be Peru State's only run.

Friends scored three in the bottom of the first and two more in the third for their five runs.

The 'Cats had other opportunities to score as they left eight runners on base.

Friends scored their five runs on six hits and had one error. Peru State scored their one run on eight hits and also had one error.

Rupp went two for three and had the lone RBI to lead the Bobcats.

Matthew Sontag (Davie, Fla.) tossed 4.2 innings and suffered the loss. Sontag allowed 5 hits, 5 runs – 4 earned, and struck out 4.
Brock Secondine (Navarre, Fla.) recorded one out in the fifth and did not allow any hits.
Michael Demers (Blair) threw the final inning and allowed just one hit.

Neither team scored in the first two innings although the Bobcats worked themselves out of a jam in the bottom of the second.

In the top of the third,
Jaime Del Hoyo (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) reached on a walk and went to second with a stolen base. On a ground out, Del Hoyo advanced to third. After another out, Garlobo singled thru the hole at shortstop to drive in Del Hoyo to put Peru State up 1-0 at that point.

In the bottom of the fourth, Friends struck for four runs to lead 4-1.

In the top of the fifth, after an out, Julien Hunt
(Brooklyn, N.Y.) singled up the middle.
Caleb Dameron (Henderson, Colo.) singled to shallow right with Hunt moving to third. Garlobo reached on a fielder's choice with Hunt scoring and Dameron being forced out at second.
Chaz Dunn (Falls City) singled to left with Garlobo advancing to third. Garlobo would score on the throw with Dunn moving to second. The 'Cats would trail 4-3 at that point.

Peru State would leave base runners on board in both the sixth and seventh and had the tying run thrown out at home in the top of the seventh.

Travis Navarro (San Jacinto, Calif.) threw the first 3.1 innings and was tagged with the loss. Navarro gave up 4 hits, 2 runs – 1 earned, and struck out 2.
Mark McGinnity (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) threw for 2 outs. McGinnity allowed 1 hit and 2 runs.
Cragin Missak (Bellevue) threw the final 2 innings and allowed 2 hits and struck out 1.

The Bobcats will be back in Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) action this Friday and Saturday when they host William Penn (Iowa) for a pair of double headers scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. each day. The Statesmen are presently 17-20 overall and are 6-14 in the Heart.

Peru State will host Benedictine (Kan.) on Tuesday, April 18, at 1 p.m. for another Heart double header. The Ravens are 25-16 on the season and are 14-6 in the Heart South.
