Bobcat Softball Competes in Friends Invitational

(Peru, Neb.) – While it was not their traditional spring break trip, it was a change of pace as the Peru State Bobcat softball team decided to stay closer to home this March.

The Bobcats decided to compete in the Friends (Kan.) Invitational in Wichita, Kan., where they played five games in two days. On each day, the 'Cats took the first game, but dropped the others. Saturday's games were played with some very extreme winds which caused challenges with all teams.

Peru State topped Mid-America Christian (Okla.) in the first game of the tournament 9-3 and then fell for the third time this season to Ottawa (Kan.) 4-1. On Saturday, Peru State won 12-4 in five innings over McPherson (Kan.) before dropping back-to-back games with Bethel (Kan.) 15-7 and the hosts, Friends, 14-11.

After going 2-3 in the tournament, Peru State is now 2-5 on the season.
