(Peru, Neb.) – The Bobcat baseball team took a pair of games from the visiting Bethany (Kan.) Swedes on Tuesday winning the first game 5-0 and taking the second game 4-2.

With the two wins, Peru State improved to 17-5 on the season while Bethany dropped to 18-17.

The Bobcats plated three in the bottom of the first inning which eventually proved to be more than enough runs.

Bryan Ventura-Castro
(Carolina, Puerto Rico) reached on a walk to start the inning and went to second when
Gianfranco Garlobo (Carolina, Puerto Rico) was hit by a pitch. After an out, the 'Cats performed a double steal.
Brandon Sedell (Davie, Fla.) reached with a walk and then
Scout Villanueva (Bakersfield, Calif.) singled thru the hole at second base to drive in Ventura Castro and to keep the bases loaded.
Darren Hasch (Destin, Fla.) reached on a walk to drive in Garlobo. After another out, Sedell would score on a wild pitch to put the Bobcats up 3-0.

The only other scoring would come in the bottom of the third inning.
Mark McGinnity (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) homered over the left field fence on a 2-1 count. Sedell followed with a single and after an out, was caught stealing. Hasch doubled to left and when
Jordan Kelly (Omaha) reached on a fielder's choice, Hasch would score on a wild throw to make it 5-0.

Peru State scored their five runs on five hits and had one error. Bethany had five hits and also had one error.

McGinnity, Sedell, Villanueva, Kelly, and Hasch each had one hit for the Bobcats. McGinnity, Villanueva, and Hasch were each credited with one RBI.

Andrew Robinson (Imperial Beach, Calif.) got the win after throwing five innings. Robinson allowed just three hits and struck out two.
Alberto Rosario (Carolina, Puerto Rico) threw two innings, allowing just two hits, while striking out one.
Mark McGinnity hit a solo home run in the bottom of the third - his second of the season

Peru State scored two in the bottom of the first frame. Ventura-Castro singled to third and went to second when Garlobo singled to center. McGinnity singled to center to load the bases. On a ground out by Sedell, Ventura-Castro scored. Garlobo went to third with McGinnity being tagged out. Villanueva singled to first to drive in Garlobo to put the 'Cats up 2-0 at that point.

The Swedes would cut the deficit in half in the top of the second by plating a run and then would tie it in the top of the third.

After an out in the bottom of the fourth, Hasch was hit by a pitch and would eventually score on a number of wild throws. At that point, the Bobcats led 3-2.

In the bottom of the sixth, Peru State would add an insurance run. McGinnity singled down the left field line and
Jaime Del Hoyo (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) came in to pinch run at that point for McGinnity. On a wild throw, Del Hoyo advanced to second. After an out, Del Hoyo would go to third on a second fly ball out. On a passed ball, Del Hoyo would add the fourth run for Peru State.

The Bobcats scored their four runs on seven hits and did not commit any errors. Bethany scored their two runs on five hits and committed three errors.

Garlobo and McGinnity each had two hits for the Bobcats while Sedell and Villanueva were each credited with one RBI.

Alfredo Barroso (Hialeah, Fla.) threw six innings for the win. Barroso allowed five hits, two earned runs, and struck out three.
John Tellini (Pembroke, Fla.) came in and earned the save by throwing the final inning. Tellini did not allow any hits and struck out one.

This weekend's series in Dubuque, Iowa, with Clarke University is a huge one as the Bobcats and Crusaders are the top two teams in the Heart North Division. Presently, the Crusaders are 24-5 overall and are 10-2 in the Heart North having played one more four-game series than the 'Cats.

After playing Clarke, Peru State will be on the road to face Tabor in Hillsboro, Kan. The Blue Jays are presently 26-7 overall.
