(Peru, Neb.) – On a soggy Sunday afternoon at the Centennial Complex Field at Peru State, the visiting Central Methodist (Mo.) (CMU) Eagles swept a double header over the hosts. The Eagles won game one 5-1 and then took game two 12-1 in five innings.

With the sweep, CMU improved to 15-7 overall and 6-2 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart). The 'Cats fell to 10-15 on the season and are now even in the conference at 5-5.

CMU scored one in the top of the first and then one more in the top of the third to lead 2-0.

Peru State would score their lone run in the bottom of the third inning.

Sandy Garcia (Strasburg, Colo.) started the bottom of the third by reaching with a walk.
Taylor Moya (Keenesburg, Colo.) laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Garcia to second. Another sacrifice bunt, this time by
Amberlin Scharsch (Aiea, Hawaii) moved Garcia to third.
Alexis Paulo-Meyers (Waianae, Hawaii) reached on a walk.
Rachel Carlos (Kaneohe, Hawaii) singled to left-center to drive in Garcia to cut the score to 2-1 at that point.

CMU scored their five runs on seven hits and did not have any errors. The 'Cats scored their one run on four hits and committed three errors.

Chelsea Reznicek (Omaha) went two for two to lead the team in hitting while Carlos was credited with the lone RBI.

Nicole Reznicek (Omaha) was on the mound and suffered the loss while pitching a complete game. Reznicek allowed seven hits, five runs – four earned, and struck out three.

The Eagles scored four runs in the top of the first which would have been enough, but added one more in the third, and then added a seven-spot in the top of the fourth to lead 12-0.

Peru State left the bases loaded in the bottom of the third without scoring a run. In the bottom of the fourth, the Bobcats would plate their only run. After an out,
Megan Hartman (Lincoln) singled to left. On a wild pitch, Hartman moved to second.
Leah Quick (Kansas City, Mo.) reached on a walk and later Hartman stole third. On a wild pitch, Hartman would score Peru State's only run of the game.

Central Methodist scored their 12 runs on 12 hits and committed two errors. Peru State scored their one run on four hits and had one miscue.

Peru State will travel south on Tuesday to Atchison, Kan., to take on Benedictine in a double header scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. The Ravens are presently 12-9 overall and are 4-4 in the Heart.

On Wednesday, the Bobcats will be back home to host Graceland (Iowa). The Yellowjackets are 11-9 overall and are 3-3 in conference play.

This weekend, Peru State will head to Missouri. On Saturday, the Bobcats will play Evangel in Springfield, Mo. The Crusaders are 12-8 overall and are 6-2 in the Heart South – tied with Central Methodist at the top of their division.
