(Peru, Neb.) – The Prairie Wolves were not kind hosts on Thursday as they swept the Peru State Bobcat softball team 8-0 and 8-5 in Lincoln.

Nebraska Wesleyan (NWU) improved to 13-5 on the season while the 'Cats fell to 5-10 after the non-conference action.

Game One Action

The Bobcats had the same number of hits as NWU in the first game and left runners on base in each inning without pushing across a score.
Â
The Prairie Wolves scored two in the bottom of the third, two in the bottom of the fourth, and four in the bottom of the sixth for their eight runs.

NWU scored their eight runs on 11 hits and did not commit any errors. Peru State did have 11 hits and committed two errors.

Morgan Ritchie (Lincoln) went three for three to lead the team while
Rachel Carlos (Kaneohe, Hawaii), Tyler Farrell (Brandon, Fla.), and
Leah Quick (Kansas City, Kan.) each added two hits.

Megan Hartman (Lincoln) was on the mound and suffered the loss after throwing 5.2 innings. Hartman gave up 11 hits, 8 runs – 5 earned, and struck out 1.

Game Two Action
Â
Peru State did get on the board first. After two outs, Carlos doubled and came home when Farrell doubled to center field to put the 'Cats up 1-0.

The Prairie Wolves would tie it at 1-1 in the bottom of the second.

The Bobcats would regain the lead in the top of the third as
Alexis Paulo-Meyers (Waianae, Hawaii) hit a double and went to third on a ground out. Carlos hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Paulo-Meyers with the Bobcats leading 2-1 at that point.

In the top of the fourth, Peru State would extend its lead.
Madison Bowman (Geneva) walked and then Quick homered to make it 4-1.
Erin Snyder (Omaha) walked and Hartman doubled to drive in Snyder to put the 'Cats up 5-1, but that is all they could score in the half inning and for the rest of the game.

NWU would tie it with four runs in the bottom of the fourth and later added three runs in the sixth for the 8-5 victory.

Farrell went three for four and had one RBI to lead the team. Paulo-Meyers and Snyder each had two hits. Quick led the team with two RBI.

Ritchie started on the mound and went 3.1 innings to suffer the loss. Ritchie allowed 10 hits, 5 earned runs and struck out 3.
Nicole Reznicek (Omaha) tossed 2.2 innings. Reznicek allowed 5 hits, 3 earned runs, and struck out 4.

Peru State is on the road, the long road, for their next three double headers which are all Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) contests.
Â
They will leave on Friday to head to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where on Saturday they will face the Mount Mercy Mustangs in a double header beginning at 1 p.m. The Mustangs are presently 0-8 on the season and are 0-2 in the Heart.

Following their contests with Mount Mercy, the 'Cats will head to Dubuque, Iowa, to face the Clarke Crusaders. Clarke is presently 9-3 on the year and 1-1 in conference play.

After a day off, Peru State will head back to Iowa, this time to Oskaloosa, on Tuesday, to face William Penn at 4 p.m. The Statesmen are 12-7 overall and have yet to play any conference games.
