(Peru, Neb.) – The 22
nd-ranked Missouri Valley Vikings continued to look impressive as they swept the Bobcat volleyball team Friday night in Marshall, Mo.

Mo Valley won 25-19, 25-20, 25-15 to improve to 26-5 overall and 12-2 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart). The 'Cats fell to 12-16 overall and are now 9-6 in conference action.

First Set Action

The first set was very tight as there were 15 ties and three lead changes. Peru State had its largest lead of four early at 11-7 after
Mallory Matthies (Omaha) put down a spike from
Meg Grose (Peoria, Ariz.). The 'Cats would keep it close until they tied it at 19-19 after
Claire Cudney (Marysville, Mo.) had a kill from Grose. The Vikings would then go on a 6-0 run to take the first set.

Second Set Action

The Vikings would never trail in the second set although Peru State would come back to tie it on nine different occasions all of which were early in the set. The Bobcats would be as close as two at 15-13 after
Alaya Roberts (Cibolo, Texas) would get a kill off an assist from
Brooke Rudebusch (Moorpark, Calif.). Peru State was again within two at 19-17 after a Viking attack error, but that would be as close as they would come as Mo Valley closed out the set for a 25-20 win.

Mo Valley would never trail and would not be tied in the third set. Peru State was never really close at any point after the Vikings jumped to a 5-1 lead to begin the set.

Missouri Valley easily outhit the Bobcats as they finished with a .290 hitting percentage while holding the 'Cats to a .092 average.

Kira Shapiro (Omaha) led the Bobcats with seven kills with Cudney adding six.

Nadja Janjevic (Podgorica, Montenegro), and
Alex Bowman (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) each finished with one solo block – the one aspect of the game where Peru State was better than Missouri Valley. Bowman added two block assists while Grose and Shapiro each were credited with one block assist.

Upcoming Matches

Peru State will finish its nearly-month-long road trip with a match against Central Methodist on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Fayette, Mo. The Eagles are 19-10 on the year and are 10-4 in the Heart. They have won three straight matches.

Then, the 'Cats will finally be back home for two contests during Homecoming week. On Tuesday night, they will host Clarke (Iowa) at 5 p.m. The Pride are presently 23-7 on the season and are 10-5 in conference play.

Friday night will be Senior Night for the Bobcats. Peru State will host Culver-Stockton (Mo.) at 5 p.m. The Wildcats are 8-21 overall and are 1-14 in the Heart.

Peru State's final game of the regular season will be against the Heart's best team, Grand View, in Des Moines on Halloween night a 7 p.m. The Vikings are 25-7 on the year and are a perfect 16-0 in conference play.
