(Peru, Neb.) – The Prairie Wolves of Nebraska Wesleyan University (NWU) came to Peru and swept the Bobcat softball team on Thursday by the scores of 2-1 and 7-2.

With the wins, NWU improved to 12-8 while the 'Cats fell to 9-27.

Game One Action
Â
The first game was a well-played game by both teams and was also a pitcher's duel.
Morgan Ritchie scored the lone
run in the first game for Peru State
Â
Peru State scored their only run in the bottom of the second inning.
Morgan Ritchie (Lincoln) was hit by a pitch to start the inning. After an out,
Chelsea Reznicek (Omaha) singled through the hole at shortstop with Ritchie stopping at second. On a ground out, both runners advanced. Ritchie would score on a wild pitch and the 'Cats led 1-0.

The Prairie Wolves tied it in the top of the third and that score held until the top of the seventh when Nebraska Wesleyan plated what would be the eventual winning run.

NWU scored their two runs on seven hits and committed two errors. The Bobcats scored their lone run on five hits and did not commit any errors.

Reznicek,
Sydney Armbruster (Falls City), Kayla Guerrero (Omaha), Leah Quick (Kansas City, Kan.), and Ritchie each had one single for Peru State.

Nicole Reznicek (Omaha) was on the mound for the 'Cats and suffered the loss. Reznicek scattered seven hits, allowed two earned runs, and struck out four.

Game Two Action
Â
Again, the Bobcats scored first in the game and did so in the bottom of the first inning. After two outs, Guerrero doubled down the right field line. Ritchie would reach on an error with Guerrero eventually scoring on the play.

The Prairie Wolves scored three in the top of the third and then added two more in the top of the fifth to go up 5-1.

In the bottom of the fifth,
Sandy Van Ert (Strasburg, Colo.) singled to start things off. Van Ert went to second on a sacrifice bunt and then went to third on a single by
Erin Snyder (Omaha). On a single by Mitchel up the middle, Van Ert scored to make it 5-2. Unfortunately for Peru State, they would strand two base runners at the end of the inning.

out at first for a double play.

NWU scored two runs in the top of the seventh to extend their lead to 7-2 which eventually was the final score.

Nebraska Wesleyan scored their seven runs on 11 hits and committed two errors. Peru State scored their two runs on five hits and had one error.
Â
Guerrero, Ritchie, Van Ert, Snyder, and Mitchel each had one hit with Ritchie and Guerrero each having a double. Mitchel was credited with one RBI.

Taylor Moya (Keenesburg, Colo.) threw a complete game and was tagged for the loss. Moya allowed 11 hits, seven runs – five earned, and struck out three.

Upcoming Games

Peru State will play a pair of double headers on the weekend.
Â
On Saturday, the Bobcats will be in Springfield, Mo., to face Evangel University in Heart of America play beginning at 2 p.m. Presently, the Crusaders are 22-8 overall and 8-2 in the Heart.

Sunday, Peru State will be heading to face York College in a double header scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Currently, the Panthers are 11-25.
