(Peru, Neb.) – The Concordia University Bulldog softball team swept a non-conference double header from Peru State in Peru on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs took the first game 7-2 and then took the second game 8-1.

With the wins, Concordia improves to 22-7 overall while the Bobcats fell to 9-25.

Game One Action
Â
Concordia scored one run in the top of the first and two in the top of the second to lead 3-0.

In the bottom of the third, the 'Cats go onto the scoreboard. After two outs,
Hannah Mitchel (Nebraska City) doubled to deep right.
Halle Holloway (Waco) followed with a double to deep center with Mitchel scoring on the play to make it 3-1.

The Bulldogs would add a run in the top of the fourth to lead 4-1.

In the bottom of the inning after two outs,
Leah Quick (Kansas City, Mo.) homered over the left field fence on a 3-1 count to cut the deficit to two at 4-2.

Concordia would add three runs in the top of the fifth to increase their lead to 7-2 which would be the final score.

The Bulldogs scored their seven runs on 13 hits and did not commit any errors. Peru State scored their two runs on six hits and had two errors.

Mitchel led the team going two for three in batting with Holloway and Quick each being credited with one RBI.
Â
Taylor Moya (Keenesburg, Colo.) took the loss on the mound. Moya threw seven innings and allowed 13 hits and seven runs – five earned.

Hailey Davis had two hits in the second game
Concordia scored one in the second, one in the third, one in the fourth, and then exploded for five runs in the top of the fifth to lead 8-0 before Peru State was able to score.

In the bottom of the fifth, the 'Cats scored. After an out,
Hailey Davis (Lincoln) doubled to deep left with
Alexandra Kenney (Milford) coming in to run for Davis. Mitchel followed with a double deep down the left field line to score Kenney. But, that was all the Bobcats could score and the Bulldogs won 8-1.

Concordia scored their eight runs on 12 hits and had one error. Peru State scored their lone run on eight hits and had two errors.

Chelsea Reznicek (Omaha), Davis, and Mitchel each had two hits for the 'Cats with Mitchel credited with one RBI.

Morgan Ritchie (Lincoln) started on the mound for Peru State and was tagged for the loss. Ritchie pitched five innings and gave up ten hits, eight runs – five earned, and struck out one.
Nicole Reznicek (Omaha) threw the final two innings. Reznicek allowed two hits, no runs, and struck out two.

The 'Cats will host Nebraska Wesleyan University on Thursday in a non-conference double header beginning at 2 p.m. These are make-up games from an earlier scheduled date. The Prairie Wolves are currently 10-8 on the season.

Peru State will be back in conference action on Saturday when they travel to Springfield, Mo., to take on Evangel University. The double header is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. The Crusaders, who are receiving votes in the most recent coaches' poll, are 22-8 overall and 8-2 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. Evangel has won six of their last seven.

Then, on Sunday, the 'Cats will be heading to face York College in a non-conference double header. The Panthers are 11-25 overall. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
