(Peru, Neb.) – The 25
th-ranked team in the NAIA proved why they were ranked as the Grand View University softball team swept a double header from Peru State on Tuesday.

The Vikings took game one 9-1 in five innings and then won the second game 6-0.

With the wins, Grand View improved to 36-8 overall and 16-4 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. The Bobcats fell to 11-35 on the season and 3-15 in the Heart.

It was a close contest for the first three innings. The Vikings scored one in the top of the first to take an early 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the second, Peru State tied it up as
Morgan Ritchie (Lincoln) homered over the left field fence on a 3-2 count. Unfortunately for the 'Cats, that would be all they would score.

Grand View would explode for seven runs in the top of the fourth and then added one in the top of the fifth to take the first game 9-1 in five innings.

The Vikings scored their nine runs on 13 hits and did not commit any errors. Peru State scored their lone run on four hits and also did not commit any errors.

Ritchie went one for two and had Peru State's RBI with her home run.
Leah Quick (Kansas City, Kan.), Hailey Davis (Lincoln), and
Hannah Mitchel (Nebraska City) each had one hit.

Ritchie was on the mound to start the game and threw 3.2 innings and was tagged for the loss. She allowed 10 hits, 8 earned runs, and struck out 1.
Taylor Moya (Keenesburg, Colo.) tossed the final 1.1 innings. Moya allowed 3 hits and 1 earned run.
Hailey Davis caught the first game. Davis had a hit
in both games against Grand View.

Grand View scored four in the top of the fourth and then two in the top of the seventh on their way to the 6-0 win.

The Vikings scored their six runs on nine hits and committed no errors. Peru State was held to four hits and had one error.

Halle Holloway (Waco), Ritchie, Davis, and Mitchel each had one hit for the Bobcats.
Â
Nicole Reznicek (Omaha) was on the mound for the Bobcats and suffered the loss. Reznicek allowed nine hits, six runs – five earned, and struck out two.

Peru State has two double headers remaining on the next two Saturdays. On April 23, the 'Cats will host another set of 'Cats – this time the Wildcats of Culver-Stockton College. Game time for the Heart double header is 2 p.m. Presently, the Wildcats are 25-15 overall and 11-7 in the Heart.

The following Saturday, April 30, the 'Cats will be hosting their final regular season games of the year. Central Methodist University will be the visitors for a 2 p.m. double header. Currently, the Eagles are 29-13 overall and 11-3 in the Heart.

th will be Senior Day for Peru State. In addition, it will be Community and College Appreciation Day which is being hosted by the Student Athlete Advisory Council, the Peru State Foundation, and the Peru State Professional Staff.
