(Peru, Neb.) – The Peru State softball team salvaged one win out of four games this past weekend in some wild and wacky Nebraska spring weather.
Nebraska's weather was wacky as the field was covered at one point with snow pellets.
The teams played through the weather as the game was never halted.On Saturday, while playing in snow, snow pellets, sun, more snow pellets, sun, and then cloudy conditions, the Bobcats dropped a pair of games to Ottawa (Kan.) University 10-0 in five innings and then 12-6. Then, in bright sunny weather, but still cool, the 'Cats dropped the first game 8-0 in five innings and came back to take the second game 4-2 over visiting Presentation (S.D.) College.

Ottawa improved to 16-13 while Presentation is now 11-10. Peru State is 6-16.

Ottawa scored two in the first, three in the second, two in the third, and three in the fourth for their 10-0 first game win.

The Braves scored their ten runs on ten hits and had one error. Peru State had three hits and committed one error.

Halle Holloway (Waco),
Hannah Mitchel (Nebraska City), and
Holly Kurz (Elkhorn) each had one hit.

Kayla Guerrero (Omaha) started on the mound for the 'Cats and was tagged for the loss. Guerrero threw 3.2 innings allowing 10 hits, 10 runs – 9 earned, and struck out 3.
Nicole Reznicek (Omaha) pitched 1.1 innings and did not allow any hits and struck out 1.
OTTAWA GM 1 GAME BOOKÂ
Ottawa Second Game ActionÂ
Peru State was on the board first in the second game in the bottom of the second inning after stranding two in the bottom of the first.
Madison Bowman (Geneva) reached on a walk and then after two outs, Bowman went to third on a single by
Sydney Armbruster (Falls City). Holloway singled to right-center which drove in Bowman with Armbruster out stretching to home. Peru State led 1-0 at that point.

Ottawa would score in the top of the third to lead 3-1 and then added two more in the top of the fourth to go up 5-1.

In the bottom of the fourth, after two outs, the 'Cats mounted a rally.
Sandy Van Ert (Strasburg, Colo.) reached on a walk and then went to second when Armbruster also walked. Holloway singled to drive in Van Ert with Armbruster stopping at second.
Leah Quick (Kansas City, Mo.) was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Morgan Ritchie (Lincoln) singled to shallow right-center with Armbruster and Holloway scoring and Quick going to third.
Cheyenne Dalrymple (Stockton, Calif.) singled thru the hole at shortstop to drive in Quick to tie it at 5-5.

In the top of the fifth, Ottawa regained the lead with one run.

In the bottom of the fifth, after two outs, Van Ert was hit by a pitch with
Erin Snyder (Omaha) coming in to run for her. Armbruster singled up the middle with Snyder advancing to second. Holloway followed with a single to shallow center to score Snyder and the game was again tied at 6-6.

The Braves would hammer the Bobcats for five runs in the top of the sixth to lead 11-6. They would then add one in the top of the seventh to take the 12-6 win.

Ottawa scored their 12 runs on 16 this and had one error. Peru State scored their six runs on nine hits and had three errors.

Holloway went 3 for 4 and had three RBI in the loss. Ritchie, Dalrymple, and Armbruster each added two hits. Ritchie had two RBI.

Ritchie started on the mound and went 5 innings plus faced a couple of batters in the top of the sixth. In the loss, Ritchie allowed 11 hits, 8 earned runs, and struck out 3.
Nicole Reznicek threw the final 2 innings allowing 5 hits, 4 runs – 3 earned, and struck out three.

Presentation Game One ActionÂ
The Saints scored one in the top of the second and then four more in the top of the third to go up 5-0. Peru State had the bases loaded in both the bottom of the second and third, but could not push across a run. Presentation added three more in the top of the fifth and won 8-0 in five innings.

Presentation score their eight runs on 12 hits and committed one error. The Bobcats had six hits and one error.

Holloway went 2 for 3 in the game to lead the team. Quick, Ritchie, Dalrymple, and
Jenna Gruber (Lincoln) each had one hit.

Taylor Moya (Keenesburg, Colo.) threw the complete game and suffered the loss. Moya allowed 12 hits, 8 runs – 6 earned, and struck out three.

Presentation Game Two ActionÂ
Peru State scored in the bottom of the first inning to take the early lead. Holloway doubled over the left field fence and after the first out, advanced to third with a stolen base. She would eventually score on a wild throw.

The Saints would tie it in the top of the third inning at 1-1.

In the bottom of the fifth, Peru State pushed across several runs. After an out,
Sara Trojan (Milford) reached on a walk, but was forced out at second when Gruber reached on a fielder's choice. Holloway singled down the left field line with Gruber stopping at second. On a passed ball, both base runners advanced. Van Ert reached on a misplayed grounder which allowed Gruber to score with Holloway moving to third and Van Ert to second. Quick singled to shallow left with Holloway scoring and Van Ert moving to third. Ritchie singled to shallow left to bring home Van Ert. At that point, the Bobcats led 4-1.

Presentation would get one run in the top of the sixth to close the gap to 4-2. Peru State had an opportunity to blow it open in the bottom of the inning as they again left the bases loaded. But, the 'Cats shut down the Saints in the top of the seventh to win 4-2.

The Bobcats scored their four runs on seven hits and had one error. Presentation scored their two runs on six hits and had two errors.

Holloway went 3 for 4 and scored two runs in the win. Mitchel went 2 of 3 while Van Ert, Quick, and Ritchie each had one RBI.

is ready to take off from second base in the game.Â

PRESENTATION GM 2 GAME BOOKÂ
Upcoming GamesÂ
Peru State will be back in Heart of America Athletic Conference action on Tuesday when they travel to Kansas City, Mo., to face Avila University in a double header scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Presently, the Eagles are 20-10-2 and 1-1 in the Heart having split a double header with Benedictine last week.

On Thursday, the 'Cats will host another non-conference fray, this time with Nebraska Wesleyan with the double header scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. The Prairie Wolves are 6-4 on the season.

Then, on Saturday, the Bobcats will head to Olathe, Kan., to take on Heart foe MidAmerica Nazarene in a double header scheduled for 1 p.m. The Pioneers are 7-3 and have yet to play a conference game, but will play four Heart games before Peru State heads to town.
