(Peru, Neb.) – The Culver-Stockton (Mo.) College Wildcat baseball team travelled to Peru State and swept a Heart of America Athletic Conference double header opener on Wednesday.

The Wildcats took the first game 4-0 and then took game two 7-2 to improve to 2-0 in the Heart and 8-13 overall. Peru State fell of 5-13 overall and 0-2 to start conference play.

Game One ActionÂ
Culver-Stockton scored one in the top of the first and then three in the top of fifth for their four runs. The Bobcats never really mounted a scoring threat in any inning.

The Wildcats scored their four runs on six hits and had no errors. Peru State had three hits and committed two errors.

Caleb Dameron (Henderson, Colo.) each had a single for the Bobcats.

O'Keefe Hall
(Reno, Nev.) threw 4.1 innings for Peru State and was tagged for the loss. Hall allowed four hits, four earned runs, and struck out three.
Christian Sanchez (Coamo, Puerto Rico) tossed 1.2 innings and did not allow any hits.
Angus Miller (Fontana, Calif.) threw the final inning and allowed two hits.

The Wildcats scored two in the top of the second to take the early lead.

Peru State would tie it up in the bottom of the third.
Travis Navarro (San Jacinto, Calif.) reached on a walk and went to second when Dameron singled to third.
Kadyn Glass (Redlands, Calif.) bunted and reached on a fielder's choice. On the play, there was a wild throw and Navarro scored with the other runners advancing.
Mark McGinnity (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) hit a sacrifice fly to center which scored Dameron. At the end of the inning, the Bobcats had tied it up at 2-2.

After two scoreless innings, the Wildcats would regain the lead in the top of the sixth with two runs. Later, they would add one in the seventh and two more in the eighth for their 7-2 win.

Seth Thomason (Crestview, Fla.), Silva,
Sterling Rupp (Grand Island), and Dameron each had one hit with Rupp getting a double. McGinnity was credited with one RBI.

Thomas Hernandez (Hollister, Calif.) started on the mound for the Bobcats and tossed 5.1 innings and was tagged for the loss. Hernandez allowed four hits, four earned runs, and struck out five.
Jacob Trujillo (Hollister, Calfi.) threw 1.2 innings and allowed three hits, three earned runs, and struck out two. Miller threw 1 inning and allowed two hits.
Tyler Wheelock (Omaha) tossed the final inning and did not allow any hits while striking out one.

The Bobcats will travel to Des Moines on Saturday to take on Grand View University in a double header beginning at 1 p.m. The Vikings are 6-4 and are 2-0 in the Heart having swept Benedictine (Kan.) College in their conference opener.

Peru State will host William Penn (Iowa) University on Tuesday, March 22, in a double header scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. The Statesmen are off to an 11-4 start and also swept their conference opener on the road against Evangel (Mo.) University.
