(Peru, Neb.) – As the temperatures cooled from 68 degrees to the mid-40s, the Bobcat softball team picked up their first win of the 2016 season during the cooler part of the day.

Peru State dropped the opener of the double header with the College of St. Mary (CSM) 6-0 before coming back to gain a 1-0 win in the second game.

scored on the play, the only run of the second game.The 'Cats are now 1-3 on the season while the Flames are 1-1.

Game One ActionÂ
The Flames scored one in the top of the first inning and the 1-0 lead would hold until the top of the fifth when CSM would add three more runs to go up 4-0. The Flames would be adding another two runs in the top of the seventh.

Peru State could not get anything going in the first game as a lead-off double in the bottom of the second eventually resulted in a double-play pickoff.

CSM scored their six runs on 12 hits and did not commit an error. The 'Cats had two hits and one error.

Cheyenne Dalrymple (Stockton, Calif.) and
Kayla Guerrero (Omaha) each had one hit with Dalrymple having the double.

Morgan Ritchie (Lincoln) threw the complete seven innings and was tagged for the loss. Ritchie allowed 12 hits, six runs – four earned, and struck out six.

Game Two ActionÂ
Both teams had opportunities to score in the game besides the lone run put on the board by the Bobcats.

Peru State stranded two in the first and third innings without being able to push a run across. The Flames left a runner on base in the first, fourth, fifth, and sixth innings. In the top of the sixth, CSM had a runner thrown out as she was stretching for home.
Halle Holloway (Waco) grabbed the ball which was a single and from her third base position threw out the runner by two steps at home to the Bobcat catcher

The Bobcats scored the lone run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. After two outs,
Sydney Armbruster (Falls City) doubled down the right field line. Holloway singled to second and it was deep enough to drive in Armbruster for the lone run of the second game.

The 'Cats scored their one run on five hits and committed no errors. CSM was held to three hits and did not commit an error.

Armbruster and Holloway each had two hits in the game while
Taylor Moya (Keenesburg, Colo.) had the other hit for Peru State. Holloway was credited with the lone RBI.

Nicole Reznicek (Omaha) tossed one of the best games of her career in a Bobcat uniform. Reznicek allowed just three hits in seven innings and struck out four for her first win of the season.

SM GAME TWO GAME BOOKÂ
Upcoming GamesÂ
Peru State will start its mid-term break trip by leaving on Thursday to head to Arkansas where they will play double headers on Friday and Saturday before taking a couple of days to get to Florida.

In Arkansas, the Bobcats will first play Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge on Friday at 2 p.m. The Eagles are currently 5-3 on the season after dropping their last two games they played.

Then, on Saturday, Peru State will head to Paragould, Arkansas, to face the Pioneers of Crowley's Ridge College. The Pioneers are members of the National Christian College Athletic Association. It does not appear that Crowley's Ridge has played yet as their website and the NCCAA does not show any results for them.

After two days of travel to Florida, the Bobcats will play Ave Maria University on March 8, St. Thomas University on March 9, Keiser University on March 10, and will conclude their Florida trip on March 11 when they play Webber International University.
