(Peru, Neb.) – Revenge was sweet on Thursday night for the MidAmerica Nazarene University (MNU) Pioneer women as they handed Peru State an 83-41 loss in Olathe, Kan. The Pioneers have only one conference loss and that came at the hands of the Bobcats earlier in the season.
Currently, MNU is 14-1 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference and 21-5 overall having won nine games in a row since Peru State topped them in January.
Peru State fell to 4-11 in conference play and is tied for eighth presently with Evangel University. Overall, the Bobcats are 8-18 on the season.
Shelbie Hess led Peru State
with 14 points in the loss at MNU Game Action After the Pioneers had hit the first two buckets to lead 4-0,
Shelbie Hess (Phoenix) hit a three-pointer at the 18:00 mark in the first half. Another hoop by MNU put them back up by three, but Hess stole the ball and had a fast-break layup to make it 6-5 with 17:14 left in the first 20 minutes.
It was after that point that the Pioneers went on an 11-0 run to move to a double-digit lead and Peru State would never be closer than ten points the rest of the contest.
The Pioneers would lead 42-21 at intermission.
In the second half, MNU would outscore Peru State 41-20 on their way to their 21
st win of the season.
Team Statistics MNU hit a scorching 60.3% of their field goal attempts as they made 35 of 58. From behind the arc, the Pioneers were 6 of 14 for 42.9%. At the free throw line, MidAmerica Nazarene was 7 of 11 for 63.6%.
Peru State struggled in all facets of shooting on the night. The 'Cats made 16 of 56 field goals for 28.6% which included making just 2 of 14 from long range for 14.3%. From the charity stripe, the Bobcas were 7 of 12 for 58.3%.
The taller Pioneers pulled down 44 rebounds compared to the Bobcats' 25. Peru State had 14 turnovers while MNU committed 13.

rebounds.Hess was the only Bobcat in double figures as she finished with 14 points.

Stuart and Madrid led the team with five rebounds each.
Rylie Bowser (Holton, Kan.) had game-highs with four assists and five steals.

MNU GAME BOOK Upcoming Games Peru State will be hosting Culver-Stockton College on Saturday at 2 p.m. on the day of the College Foundation's Alumni Chili Feed. Culver-Stockton is currently 10-5 on the season in conference play and 18-7 overall.
During halftime of the women's game, the Bobcat cheerleaders and their youth cheer camp participants will perform. In addition, the Fantastic Flyers of Gary's Gymnastics in Glenwood, Iowa, will also perform.
Following the women's contest, the fall student-athletes will be recognized for their athletic and/or academic awards.
