(Peru, Neb.) – After being held to one hit in the their first game, Peru State did not get very many more in the second game, but they were timely hits. With that factor, the Bobcat softball team gained its first Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) win of the season by topping Baker University 4-2 in the second game of the double header. In the first game, the Wildcats won 3-1.
With the split, Peru State improved to 18-15 overall and are now 1-5 in the HAAC. Baker is 15-15 and dropped its first conference game, making them 5-1.
First Game Action The Wildcats would score one run in the first, one run in the third, and one run in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead.
In the top of the sixth,
(Seward) pitched the first four innings and was tagged for the loss. Johnson gave up five hits, three earned runs and struck out two.
(Elkhorn) threw a complete game for her eighth win of the season. Massengale allowed nine hits, two earned runs, and struck out one.
BAKER GAME TWO BOX SCORE Upcoming Games The Bobcats next double header is conference play at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo., on Saturday on April 5. The double header with the Vikings is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Currently, the Vikings are 2-14 overall and 0-4 in the HAAC and will play Benedictine prior to Saturday's match-up with Peru State.
On Sunday, the 'Cats will play a non-conference double header at Hastings College. The pair of games with the 11-10 Broncos is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Hastings will play four more games before facing the Bobcats.
