(Peru, Neb.) – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that 131 women's golf student-athletes have been named 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Peru State Bobcat women's golfers earning the recognition were
Jordan Schaardt (Humboldt) and
Katie Potter (Omaha). For Schaardt, this was her second time earning the honor.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
Both Schaardt and Potter have completed their eligibility for Peru State. Schaardt, an elementary education major, has been the number one golfer for the Bobcats the past three years. In addition, Schaardt is the first Bobcat women's golfer to compete in the NAIA National Golf Championships having recently been the medalist in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC).
Potter graduated in December with a degree in Sport Management and started a graduate program this spring. Potter has been a four-year member on the Bobcat golf team.
