By winning the Western Division, the Bobcats secured the second seed in the upcoming HAAC tournament that will begin on Wednesday in St. Joseph, Mo.

Game One Action

Peru State scored its first run in the bottom of the first inning.  After the first out, Ronnie Tanner (Havertown, Pa.) singled up the middle and later went to second with a stolen base.  On a fly-ball out, Tanner advanced to third.  Randy Santiesteban (Hialeah, Fla.) singled shallow down the left field line to drive in Tanner.  At the end of one, the 'Cats led 1-0.
Ryan Grabowski

The Bobcats would add one in the bottom of the fourth inning.  After the first two outs, Derrick Davis (Orange Park, Fla.) doubled to deep center.  Jake Wright (Freeport, Fla.) singled to shallow right with Davis advancing to third.  Ryan Grabowski (Omaha) hit a shot off the pitcher that scored Davis and Peru State led 2-0 after four complete innings.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Bobcats did their biggest damage.  Phil Lial (Las Vegas, Nev.) homered over the center field fence on a 0-0 count to make it 3-0.  After an out, Wright doubled to left-center with George Palko (Kent, Wash.) coming in to run for Wright.  Grabowski doubled to deep left, driving in Palko, to give the 'Cats a 4-0 advantage.  After a pitching change, Tyler Cherin (Seattle, Wash.) singled up the middle with Grabowski staying at second.  Grabowski and Cherin completed a double steal to advance and Grabowski would score on a wild Viking throw to put Peru State on top 5-0.  Cherin moved to third in the process.  Tyler Croushorn (Omaha) singled up the middle to make 6-0 'Cats, driving in Cherin, which would prove to be the final score.

The Bobcats scored their six runs on 11 hits and did not commit an error.

Lial, Wright, and Grabowski each had two hits to lead Peru State with Grabowski being credited with two RBI.

Tim Patterson (Valdosta, Ga.) pitched six innings to earn his fifth win of the season against just one loss.  Patterson scattered five hits and struck out one while shutting out the Vikings.  Derek Voigt (Auburn, Wash.) threw the final inning in relief of Patterson.  Voigt did not give up any hits in his outing.

While the game was scheduled to go nine innings, the 'Cats would score enough runs in the bottom of the seventh to finish it due to the mercy rule.
