The Bobcats got a run in the first inning on Sunday to start things off. After the first out, Tanner reached on a walk and advanced to second with a stolen base. Voigt followed with a single while driving in Tanner.
In the bottom of the second, the Eagles scored two to go up 2-1. However, the 'Cats responded to tie the game in the top of the third. Grabowski doubled to left-center and went to third on a sacrifice bunt by McGonigle. On Croushorn's ground-out, Grabowski was able to score to knot the game at 2-2.
Neither team would score in the next four innings although the Eagles had opportunities to do so in the fifth and sixth, but Peru State got out of both jams.
In the top of the eighth, Voigt singled to short and went to second when Santiesteban bunted and reached on a base hit. Both base runners advanced when Lial laid down a sacrifice bunt.
Jake Wright (Freeport, Fla.) came up with a timely single to drive in Voigt, giving Peru State a 3-2 lead, which would prove to be the final score as the Bobcats held Avila scoreless for the win.

Sunday Game Two Action
Neither team scored in the first inning, although both had opportunities to do so.
In the top of the second, Wright doubled thru the hole at shortstop. Cherin followed with a walk. On a ground out, both runners advanced. Pat Bramhall
(Vermillion, Kan.) hit a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Wright to give Peru State a 1-0 lead.
The Bobcats' lead was short-lived as Avila struck for four runs in the bottom of the second to jump on top 4-1.
Peru State was able to cut the deficit in the top of third. After the first out, Voigt singled to left and went to second with a stolen base. Santiesteban doubled to drive in Voigt, making it 4-2 Eagles. After another out, Wright singled to drive in Santiesteban to cut the lead to 4-3.
Neither team would score in the fourth, but both scored in the fifth.
After the first out in the top of the fifth, Lial doubled to second and eventually scored as Wright reached base on a wild throw. At that point, it was a 4-4 tie. Avila would break the tie in the bottom of the inning by scoring a run, regaining the lead at 5-4.
Neither team scored in the sixth. In the top of the seventh, Voigt started the inning with a single up the middle. Santiesteban came through with a big double thru the hole at shortstop that allowed Voigt to score to tie the game at 5-5.
Avila had its chances in the bottom of the inning to win; however, the Bobcats held them scoreless, leaving three on base, to force extra innings.
Neither team scored in the eighth, forcing the game to go to the ninth.
In the top of the ninth, Peru State rallied after the first two outs. Lial singled up the middle and went to second when Wright produced an infield single. The Eagles loaded the bases when their pitcher hit Cherin. An Avila error allowed Grabowski to get on base, which scored Lial. Bramhall earned a walk, which drove in Wright, making the score 7-5 Peru State.
Again, in the bottom of the ninth, Avila had opportunities to score, but left the bases loaded and the 'Cats held on for the 7-5 win.
Peru State scored its seven runs on 12 hits and committed one error while the Eagles scored their five runs, also on 12 hits, and committed two errors.
Wright had three hits and two RBI while Voigt, Santiesteban, and Lial each had two hits. Bramhall's lone hit produced two RBI.
Marshall Klontz (Auburn, Wash.) started on the mound for the 'Cats and threw six and two-thirds innings. Klontz gave up 11 hits, five earned runs, and struck out six.
Danny Borst (Moreno Valley, Calif.) threw one-third of an inning to get Peru State into extra innings. Cherin pitched one and one-third innings and gave up just one hit and was credited for the win – his first as a Bobcat. Voigt earned his second save as he got the last two outs of the game.

Upcoming Games
On Tuesday, Peru State will host Nebraska Wesleyan University in a nine-inning contest beginning at 3 p.m.
This Saturday and Sunday, another HAAC Western Division opponent, will be coming to Peru State. The Baker University Wildcats will be in town for two double headers, both beginning at 1 p.m. On Saturday, it will be Senior Day for the Bobcats.
Weather-permitting, Peru State will travel to Ottawa University on Tuesday, April 23, for a non-conference double header starting at 1 p.m.
The final games of the regular season will be at home on Saturday, April 27, when the 'Cats host Missouri Valley College with the games beginning at 1 p.m.
